6 Essential Steps to Beauty, Peace & Vitality
Written by admin on July 30, 2010 – -- by Eliza Ceci

“Your body is the harp of your soul. It is yours to bring forth sweet music or confused sounds.” – Kahlil Gibran
As a woman it is instinctual to want to feel beautiful, desired and magnificent. Over thousands of years of evolution and change women have remained the constant to the ebb and flow of life. Feminine energy remains the yin to the masculine yang balancing the abrasive edge of the ‘man’s world’ with intelligence, beauty, grace and creativity.
With the day to day stresses of the modern woman’s life it is no wonder women are feeling disempowered, unfulfilled or lacking when it comes time to evaluate their health, happiness and overall vitality. We are running the show, wearing multiple hats and overextending ourselves by staying late at the office, volunteering or saying yes, yes and again yes to obligations inevitably to be accepted and appreciated. This overextension of our time and energy creates stress and often dis-ease in the form of headaches, digestive issues, PMS and complications with our menstrual cycles, adrenal fatigue and even emotional eating and bingeing.
We all know nutrition plays a key role in the way we look and feel (but what about our internal state?) Why do we sabotage our opportunity for vibrant, fabulous skin, hair and bodies on a regular basis? Read more »

The Truth About Diva Notes
Written by Tera on March 6, 2010 – -People might think that I send out my diva notes as a way of uplifting others, but that’s not the whole truth. You see, for every ONE email I send out to the world, I get dozens back. In that respect, one might see this as a rather selfishly motivated venture.
Few things will raise a person’s sense of self-worth more
than the ability to help others.
TAll the fussing you’ve been doing to lose 10 pounds so that you’ll feel a bit “better”. Spend 15 minutes doing good deeds for elderly people in a retirement home and watch what happens. Teach a little kid to tie his shoe laces.
We put so much attention on food and diet and nutrition, but Life is about relationships, attitudes and the contributions we make to the world around us.
This morning I took a moment of tranquil reflection to finally write a “diva note”. In case you don’t receive them, you’ll get them when you sign up for the FREE 7-day raw food detox we offer. This is what I sent out this morning.

Lovebeam,
I’ve missed you.
I’ve been just swamped in preparations for WISH, but I’m here this morning with a doozie, so listen up, Si-star!
While interviewing Ali Brown for WISH, she shared with me a quote by Jim Rohn, which goes like this:
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
Whoa.
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
WhooooOOOoooaa!!
It took a few days for this one to sink in, but when it did, I started making some adjustments. I started getting a bit more choosy about the people with whom I share my time, my attention and my resources.
Have you been accepting certain conditions and situations because you feel you’re not “worthy” of something better, or “not there yet”? The speakers of WISH will remind you again and again to behave as if you already are where you want to be.
You don’t need to wait until you’ve got a hot pink convertible and your own official fan club to start acting like a superstar, my dear. It’s the other way around. You’ve got to think like a superstar, act like the superstar you ARE, then you’ll feel so good you’ll finally start doing the things you most want to do in the world.
That’s when you get the hot pink convertible.
Insist on quality ingredients in Life and love.
You are worthy.
Founding member of your Official Fan Club,

—————–
One of the cool things about inspiring and uplifting other people, is that you get a mega dose of inspiration and uplifting back. Immediately after sending out my message, I refresh, refresh, refresh my inbox to see if any responses have come in.
Check out some of the emails I received this morning;
“Tera,
I signed up for the 7 day raw detox months ago (I think back in November), but I never really did it. Life became really bumpy for a while there with an unplanned pregnancy, a disappointing reaction from spouse and a subsequent miscarriage. I have been “out of sorts” since then and have yet to really feel like I have regained control of my life, health and wellbeing. I gained 20 pounds that I haven’t been able to shed and just haven’t felt the “spark” that I used to. I printed all of the 7 day detox materials when I originally signed up and have considered starting several times since then.
Finally TODAY, I am on my 24 hour fast!! How great it was to come in to work this morning and see your email! (Is it possible that you could have known I needed it?)
I am beginning to think that, in spite of the fact that I am just starting it now, signing up for the 7 day raw detox last year was one of the best things I have done in a long time. All things happen for a reason, and I am realizing that, while November might not have been the right time for me, NOW is the time! Because I have read through the materials so many times since November, I feel very prepared for the next 7 days. I am looking at the detox week as the beginning of my “Kristin’s Got her Groove Back” phase of life.
Please know that you are making a difference in the lives of others, and you have made a difference in my life. Your emails were there at times when it felt like no one else was. You are like my secret little cheerleader – one that I have especially needed over the last couple of months.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. What else can I say? With much gratitude,
Kristin”
Gushing gratitude from every pore, messages like these fill me up better than green smoothie ever could. Check out this one! It’s even from a MAN! OH YEAH! I loooove that we’ve got a male following in Divaland. You gotta be a cool cat to be comfortable hanging out with a bunch of “raw divas”:
“Dear Tera:
You absolutely magnificent ray of SUNSHINE. Just let me say I find in your emails and website a joyful sense of life and SPIRIT that I have to say I love what you are doing, you are most perfectly suited to it!!
Sincerely, Grant
And more and more and moooooore:
“Dear Diva, your emails are the sweetest, most inspiring and uplifting messages I receive. Thank you so much for the beauty and joy that you bring and inspire in others. xoxoxo”
————-
“Hello beautiful people
I have been receiving these notes for a while now and reading them with a smile. However, this time I just had to send you a thank you for this wonderful note.
It is a lovely thing that you take the time to do and I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to make people feel better about themselves and their lives.
Thank you and Bless you all!
Alice xxx”
And this one… this one made my heart skip a beat:
You just don’t even know!!!…This note may have actually saved my life today! I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue. Thank you my sister!
In love & light,
C.
When you realize the impact your choices have on other people, you’re inspired to improve, persist, be the change you want to see in the world.
At the end of your days, it will not be what you did wrong or what you said to offend that takes up your attention. It will be regret for what you did NOT do or say to make things go right in your life.
Dive in and take your life head on, Sunshine.
That’s the only way to go.
Love, boundless support and gushing admiration,
Tera

WISH for International Women’s Day – March 8, 2010
Written by admin on March 5, 2010 – -
Behind every great woman there are about three or four other great women. Since before the history books were written, women have come together to share wisdom, support and even resources.
And while modern life and luxuries may have eliminated many of our needs for support, no amount of technological “advances” can take away from our need to connect, share, and inspire one another. In fact, it’s quite the opposite:
In celebration of International Women’s Day, the biggest WISH there’s ever been is coming true. On March 8, 2010, women from all around the globe are invited to attend W.I.S.H., the Women’s International Summit for Health – a series of free on-line interviews with leading health and wellness experts who answer the most pressing questions faced by women today.
For 10 days, thousands of women will come together to hear the stories and share the wisdom of a star-studded list of 40 speakers. Exploring the subjects of sensuality, spirit, food, and relationships as much as fitness, beauty, health, money, attitude and family.
Whether it’s the kids, the cellulite, the hot flashes or steamy romances, W.I.S.H. brings women together to find the solutions and to recharge their batteries.
Register free before March 8, 2010 and join us for the world’s biggest empowerment party EVER!
Wishfully yours,
The Green Smoothie Queen

Toilet Talk and Other Pertinent Poop Issues
Written by Tera on January 4, 2010 – -
Today is Monday and it feels like things are getting back into full speed ahead mode after the holidays. I’m certainly glad I’ve given myself these 21 days to put things in place. I know today is supposed to be the day that we buckle down and address fitness, but I need to interrupt your regularly scheduled 21-Day Challenge programming with an announcement about toilet talk and other pertinent poop issues.
Okay, so I need to get right down to the juicy stuff here because I’m just aching to share with you my big news. Brace yourselves, if you’re the sensitive type.
Around here it is to be expected that if you’re talking about food, you’re talking about poop. I have yet to meet a woman with whom I couldn’t have a great conversation about the pleasure of a satisfying bowel movement. Either we’re consitpated, gassy, bloated or just irregular, but without exception we all know that the pleasure of a productive bowel movement has been daringly, but not unjustly, compared to the pleasure of a sexual orgasm.
In the last few hours I’ve had four intensely pleasurable experiences of the non-sexual variety and I feel like a new woman!
The secret?
I’ll tell you in a moment.
As you know, I’m prepping for the 6-Week Deep Tissue Detox. It’s starting in just a week and today is the first day I’ve really been able to consider getting myself on track for food and prepping myself for the detox that’s coming. The timing is PERFECT for a detox. After the travel, irregular sleep, mashed potato indulgences and other chocolate-coated conditions that come with the holidays, I am so ready to clean out and clear up. But more than that, I’m ready to learn.
I’ve been at this now for seven years and am astonished still to realize to what degree I am the byproduct of the information I’ve been fed by other health enthusiasts. I can remember when I first jumped on board the raw food bandwagon, I was rubbing noses with a lot of friendly fruit-eaters and running about 30km on an average Sunday afternoon. I was doing my best to learn the ropes and ask questions and get the results I was hearing about. Unlike many raw foodists, I didn’t come to this lifestyle seeking health improvement. I was simply curious.
I was following a pure path at first. Avoiding salt was a spiritual arm-wrestling match unlike any other I’ve ever had. The white-knuckling didn’t last long for me. The recommendations I followed at the time were probably better than what I’d been doing before, and so I got results. I still felt bloated and constipated and remember asking about enemas and colonics at the time and got a big ol’ resounding “NO!” That’s “BAD”. The ideas put out were that some people have had enemas and colonics and then never had a natural bowel movement again in their lives.
Last year after encountering a few health professionals that do recommend and use enemas and colonics themselves, I decided to call upon Michael Perrine and ask him to give me the “Scoop on Poop”. Looking back at 2009, I can honestly say that one of the best things I did for myself was invest $20 in a rubber enema bag from my local drugstore! SUCH a good move. The reason I’m telling you all this is because I don’t think you should believe anything I say. I think you should find out for yourself.
With the 6-Week Detox coming up, this is the perfect opportunity to learn for yourself what happens when you really clean out your body and understand more about what’s going on inside it. We are so indoctrinated to avoid things, fear certain practices, etc. Inform yourself honestly and objectively, then try stuff. Listen to the teleseminar that I recorded with Michael and read some of the comments left by other people and have the courage to walk your own path. The reason I started all this toilet talk in the first place, actually has nothing to do with enemas, but is related to bacterial balance in the gut and my extremely productive morning on the throne.
Here’s the secret to my high productivity:
The last time we did the 6-Week Detox, I learned SO much about the gut and healthy bacterial balance, but I didn’t really apply it all. Over the last few days I’ve been drinking LOADS of fermented Kombucha and may I just tell you that stuff works!! I could never be convinced that enemas are a bad thing because they have just done way too much good for me. And now I am most thoroughly convinced that drinking and eating fermented foods is a health-building habit to have and one I intend to keep for a long time.
Through Crudessence we’ll be offering a fermentation workshop very soon. You can access the Crudessence calendar for more details if you’re in the area.
As for you, my dear, and our 21-Day Challenge, please spend some time tonight dreaming of your fit, hot body and how you feel when you’re fitness is at its ideal. What do you want to do and how often? Set your ideal scene and tomorrow we’ll do some action steps and target setting to put things in place. I know today and tomorrow are devoted to dreaming of and putting in place our fitness goals for the year, but with my glorious gut adventures this morning, I simply had to tell you how excited I am about learning more, about deconstructing the myths that I didn’t even realize I was operating with.
I mean, I’ve heard all this bacteria stuff and people say it works, but holy smokin’ toilet seats, now I’m a believer. If you’re joining us for the 6-Week Detox we’ll make a believer out of you, too. Otherwise, start googling about fermentation, Sister!
Okay, back tomorrow with the fitness focus!
Love and laughter,
Tera

2010: May it Be Your Best Year Yet
Written by Tera on January 1, 2010 – -
I’ve settled myself into coziest chair in the house and it’s about one hour until the clock strikes midnight.
I wanted to connect here–with you and with myself in preparation for the new year. I’m going to find a quiet place in the house and within myself to focus on a few things as the clock strikes midnight.
I mentioned yesterday the importance of reviewing your successes for 2009. Hopefully you managed to find the time to do that. If not, do that now. It’s important to validate the good stuff before you move forward with the new. Celebrate your success.
In the same way that I had you scan the months of the year in our last exercise, I’d like to ask you now to scan the different areas of your life and aspects of who you are as a person and as a woman. The never ending to do lists and multitasking miracles we pull off still somehow don’t manage to leave us time to address our own personal details. When was the last time you had a pedicure? Never had one? What needs to happen in your life to reach closer to your ideal?
Have you ever set yourself some New Year’s Resolutions only to break them on Day 3, then give up on yourself?
Remember from yesterday’s message, this program is our slow and steady path to success. Put your discipline in place. Get serious and straight up with yourself.
How committed are you when other people ask you to help them, show up for something, or be there in some way? Make a commitment to yourself over the next 21 days. I don’t know where you’re at, how you’ve been or what you want to achieve for yourself, but you can do whatever you want, you can achieve all kinds of amazing things if you’re willing to take the time to paint the picture first.
This is YOUR day.
This is YOUR chance to start fresh and make something happen.
It’s a new moon, a new year, a new beginning.
For the next 21 days, treat every day as if it was the first day of the New Year. Be committed consistently throughout this program. This isn’t going to be a quick fix. Let’s get serious, roll up our sleeves and make this the best year ever! If you slip up on Day 3, keep going!
Tonight’s New Year’s Eve. Take some time to visualize and paint the picture of your year to come. Just images, colors, textures, spaces and sounds. Make this easy, natural and playful for yourself. If you find you are forcing yourself, step back. Think of something you love and just hold that space. Recall a moment you felt proud of what you had achieved and hold that space for a while.
Here are the 10 different areas of our lives we’re going to be addressing throughout the 21-Day Challenge:
- Attitude
- Fitness/Activity
- Spirituality/Creative Expression
- Sensuality
- Health
- Family
- Relationships
- Beauty
- Home
- Money/Abundance.
I don’t want you rushing ahead of yourself, so I won’t put too many details about each category, but at least you have them and can start putting your attention on the different areas.
January 1st is your day to dream, play, imagine, hope and COMMIT to the next 21 days.
Then starting on January 2, we’ll spend 2 days on each section. The first day, you’ll brainstorm your ideal scenario for each of these topics. Just let yourself go, pull out colored pens and dream, play, explore the possibilities of what you can create for yourself in each of these areas. Write your notes on a paper or in a notebook. You’re going to need to sleep with them under your pillow.
Why?
Because my mom always told me to do that with my study notes before my exams. It all works by osmosis. On the second day, after you’ve slept on your ideal scene, dreamed about it, and let the pictures paint themselves, then it’s time to circle the ones that stand out most and feel the best when you read them. Then you identify which ones are achievable in the short term and which ones should be considered more long term.
Then you need to create some action steps that you can take over the coming weeks.
We’re going to repeat that little pattern for each of the 21 days of the challenge. For now, my Sweetcake, it’s time to PARTY and countdown to the New Year. But before I let you go and sip champagne or hug your loved ones, I want to tell you how grateful I am for your support and kind words. If I counted my wealth by adding up success stories, letters of appreciation, celebration and good news, I would be one of the wealthiest women on the planet.
And since I do, so I am.
Thank you for the gift of your courage, support and kindness as part of this community. May 2010 bring more green to your plate, more awe in your raw and all the love and abundance you can possibly create for yourself.
My very best wishes for your new beginnings,
Tera
p.s.
If you’re just coming across this for the first time, all you need to do is be signed up to our 7-day detox or Health in High Heels newsletter and you’ll receive daily notification about our 21-Day Challenge! Happy to have you join us for this adventure.

Reflecting Upon Your Achievements in 2009
Written by Tera on December 30, 2009 – -
What a day!
A bit about my day:
I spent the whole day working with some new business partners and I’m so excited about what’s coming in the new year. I’ll limit the self-indulgent chatter and just say that if you’d like to learn more about the live events and workshops I’ll be organizing in Montreal, you can check out the Crudessence website. In the meantime, you can check out the view from the loft where I’ll be teaching in these pictures I’ve included.
Last night I managed to work up a bit of a fever—still processing those mashed potatoes, it seems. By necessity, I was on lemon water and kombucha for the day.
When I came into the office this morning I was met with smiling faces and a familiar glowing granola energy. At lunchtime the kitchen staff put out a big spread of salads, sauces, pâtés and treats. It was amazing to be at a staff meeting where EVERYONE was eating raw food.
During the lunch hour, I got to chatting with a few of the other girls and was so reassured to
hear some of the foods they’d eaten over the holidays, that I actually burst out laughing. Knowing that my friends chose to eat macaroni dinners and microwaved carrots rather than upset, annoy or irritate their families at Christmas time was touching and reassuring.
At one point during the lunch hour, the new head chef (who is not a raw foodist, but is a trained chef) presented a tray of cookies. They were COOKies, with milk, flour and eggs, but they were made with love. EVERYONE on staff took one or two out of gratitude for the offering. I was on liquids only, but was moved to see people put aside their food obsessions to partake of a special offering.
About the 21-day challenge:
So, let’s talk about what’s going to happen over the coming days and weeks.
Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve! Wow. Another year whips by and here you are wondering how it all happened so quickly.
I think the first thing for us to do is a proper review of the year. There’s no need to make any of these tasks long or complicated. As you’re reading these notes, get things done. Even if you just take a few moments and scribble some thoughts in an old notepad, it’s better than not doing anything at all. It is important to put things in writing. Taking ideas from thought to paper is a powerful process.
What were the biggest things you accomplished this year? Take the time and reflect back on the last 12 months. If you have to pull out a calendar, do it. Now is the time to celebrate the things you did well and honor your achievements and improvements in 2009. Before we take the time to set new targets and resolutions, let’s validate all that went well and all we did successfully.
Months slip through the sands of time rather quickly. Take a few moments to recall where you were last new year’s eve. Where were you? Who were you with? What were you doing? What did you hope to achieve for yourself in this last year? What can you validate yourself for having achieved and accomplished? What can you celebrate about 2009?
Put your focus on the things you want to create more of. There may have been some rough months and rocky roads, but you got through them and are stronger for it. Honor what you did well, so that you feel inspired and empowered. Scan briefly the months of the year and just jot down a few of the key points, events, realisations that stand out for you looking back:
- January
- February
- March
- April
- May
- June
- July
- August
- September
- October
- November
- December
Tomorrow and over the rest of the weeks, we will be more focused on creating targets and objectives for the New Year. Now is the time to review, celebrate, validate all that happened in 2009.
We wouldn’t be raw divas if we didn’t have our interests strongly grounded in food and nutrition. So let’s talk about some of what we can accomplish for ourselves over the course of our 21-Day Challenge.
One of the things that I’ve noticed (having worked with nearly 30,000 women around the world) is that extreme fasting, juice feasting and water fasting can be very difficult to bounce back from and often results in bingeing or even WORSE dietary habits after the fact. For the purposes of this 21-Day Challenge I’m going to recommend a slow and steady route to getting back on track. Rather than put our attention on all the things we should be avoiding, let’s focus on what we can be adding.
Salt is my major addiction, and the more I try to tell myself NOT to eat it, the more I feel compelled to eat it and find it everywhere I look. Whatever it is you are wanting to “avoid” focus on its opposite or a healthy alternative. For me, focusing on a lot of celery, tomatoes and mineral-rich greens is key to liberating me from my salt addiction. Telling myself to avoid salt does NOT work. Another thing that makes a big difference is drinking enough water. Chances are, no matter what you’re eating, you’re probably not drinking enough water.
They say it takes 21-days to develop a new habit. Spend some time thinking about the healthy habits you’d like to adopt for yourself. As we go through the process of setting our resolutions, objectives and targets for the New Year, I highly recommend you post them in the comments section of the blog. What a powerful way to share them, hold yourself accountable and inspire others at the same time!
In my next post I’ll cover a few objectives for food-related targets that might inspire you over the 21-Day Challenge ahead. I’ll also let you know how our New Year’s resolution and objectives will play themselves out over the weeks to come. We’ll be looking at about 10-12 specific areas of your life and setting ideal targets, short terms goals and action steps! Often we have a nasty habit of setting resolutions out of guilt for what went wrong last year and while feeling bloated for having eaten too much over the holidays! Let’s stay focused on the good stuff so we can create more of the same.
Since we’re “Raw Divas” and most of what we do is centered around food and diet, I recommend you at least articulate the food related objectives that you’re ready to start implementing when January 1 hits. What healthy habit would you like to implement in your life? For me, it’s making green juices. I would say I will be avoiding salt, but as I mentioned, that’s not been working so well. I’m going to be VERY careful about focusing on what I want to do MORE of. Adding more greens is where it’s at for me right now.
I admit, the temptation to restrict fat, throw myself into a juice fast or hard-core regime is strong, but I’m convinced that slow and steady will help me win the race this year.
Okay, my dear. I’ve made this long enough and am off to prepare myself a green juice and something to eat. Wishing you a night of inspiring reflection and projection about the good things to come.
Love,
Tera

Moments in Thyme . . . Who Took the Safe out of Safekeeping?
Written by admin on December 28, 2009 – -By Joyce Wiatroski
I’ve come to the conclusion that once one reaches a certain age there is no such thing as putting something away for safekeeping.
For several years now, things I’ve put away for safekeeping have become so safe they’re never seen again. Have you any idea the time lost searching? The utter frustration?
The taxing turmoil of turning the place upside down? Not to mention the discouraging defeat of facing the consequences of losing an item.
I’ve gained a new respect for those folks who just pile things up on the kitchen counter, the dining room table, or the bedroom dresser. At least there is a good chance of finding what you’re looking for. Just dig through the piles.
Woe to the neatnik who compulsively picks up! And do I ever learn? Well, not so far.
I was gifted early in December with a copy of O Magazine — the one with Ellen on the cover? It’s a neat issue and it might have actually paid for itself if I hadn’t been so anal.
In that issue, Hallmark ran an ad with a $5 off coupon for greeting cards with an expiration date of 12/24/09. Wow, what a deal! I carefully tore the little coupon along the perforations and, I know — you can see this coming, right? I put the coupon away for safekeeping!
I hunted high and low — so sure I would have put it in my purse to have handy when out shopping. But no, it wasn’t there, even though I looked multiple times! As if the more I looked in the same places, the better chance I’d have of finding it. After all, how many places would I have put a little coupon?
December 24th came and went and today, December 26th, as I swished dust from one surface to the next, I found a little stack of “items of interest” tucked away in the bookcase. Stuff we should toss when it comes in the mail, but that holds just a modicum of interest encouraging us to put it aside to look at later. Though later rarely comes.
There sat the $5 Hallmark coupon—in the place of honor—top of the stack! Completely worthless. Yet, even with its value now void, finding it offered a small bit of comfort and consolation.
Is this just another manifestation of old age, brain cells dying off producing more memory loss? Will a supplement help? More green juices? Or perhaps I should attempt to change my anal ways before my expiration date arrives?
I’ll try to come to grips with the realization that things are only things. And I’ll tell
myself it’s okay to leave some things out on the counter in plain sight. A place guaranteed to provide safekeeping! And you know what? Even if we do forget some things as we age, and misplace others, overall we’ll continue to manifest . . .
Like fine wine, women grow better with thyme.

5 Steps to Get Back on the Healthy Food Band Wagon
Written by admin on November 2, 2009 – -(Doll’s weekly thoughts on goals, starting over and success!)
Monday is the most popular day to re-start programs. This goes for exercise, diets and other self-improvement ideas. We’ve all been there. We start on Monday. Then, by Friday, we wonder what happened to take us so far off track.
Here are some thoughts to help all of us enjoy our successes at the end of the Week.
-
Begin at the finish line!
I am very happy with the work I do with The Raw Divas. My goal is to be a successful businesswoman. I need to set the stage. Last week Nick helped me buy and put together this great office set up. There is no reason to wait until I am successful. The time is now!
-
Plan for success
In my planning for success I’ve placed only those things that are necessary for my work on and around my desk. I decided that distractions where not helping me to get the work done. You all know what I mean. Dishes and nick-knacks do not belong.
-
Set an attainable goal
I’d love to set a goal of writing 3 hours every day. That’s just not possible for me. But, if I set a goal of 15 min, twice a day I can get the work done and feel like I’ve accomplished something.
-
Reward yourself
I work really well with tangible gifts. Finish a project? Try a spa treatment, new scarf or even a star on your calendar. Make it fun!
