One of the questions I get asked the most is “How do I incorporate more raw foods into my family’s diet when my husband/boyfriend/ Dad is resistant?”

I’ve found the easiest way to convert the men in our lives, is to create those comfort foods they love the most; but create them in a more nutritious, organic, raw vegan way.

Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. As much as we’d like them to drop the junk food NOW, baby steps work well for the long term. Remember this is about a lifestyle not a diet, so every step is a step in the right direction.

Next work your way to a vegan dish, and finally hold nothing back and create a raw vegan dish. Unleash all your superwoman powers, pull out all your tricks and create a meal that just blows his hair back.

Most importantly remember, this is about your man/men. Show them that the foods they love the most can be created in a healthily manner and still taste delicious and still be very familiar and most of all, be manly.

What Does He Love (Aside From You)?

So take a minute and think about what your fella really loves. What comfort food just curls his toes and has him begging for more? Now create it in a healthy manner!

For instance, if your man is a die-hard carnivore, try my hearty stick to your ribs Portabella “meatloaf” with basil and sun dried tomato marinara. It has the look and texture of the real thing; but it’s packed with veggies, nuts and seeds and really fills the belly. In fact it should come with a warning label: “This dish isn’t for light-weights.” That should peak his interest!

SuperFoods for your Super Man

The one thing that I really want you to hold onto is if you can’t get him to join you regularly and he hangs on to his burger for life, try adding some superfoods to the big beef patty. He’ll never know and you can sit and smile while he licks his fingers in delight. Remember it’s all those baby steps that get us and him up that ladder for a longer healthier life!

Most Americans don’t consume even half the amount of fresh raw foods that our bodies require.
