Why I’m A Raw Vegan Mama
Written by Carissa on August 12, 2011 – -Why I’m a Raw Vegan Mama

Have you watched Bedtime Stories? In the film, Adam Sandler’s character pokes fun at his sister who serves her kids only organic foods and bans junk foods from her house. Her kids have never tried or even heard of S’mores.
Yes, the movie is funny. Sort of… Until I realize I am a bit like the mother, and maybe even more extreme — because I am not only a mama who believes in organic, in-season and local, unprocessed foods, but because I am also a raw vegan.
Many raw vegans eat at least 75% raw fruits, vegetables, sprouted nuts, seeds and grains. I’m at about 100%. And because I prepare all our meals, my husband and son eat at least 50% raw vegan foods.
It hasn’t always been this way, though.

Raw Mom Success Story: Priscilla Soligo
Written by Priscilla on August 10, 2011 – -Family Health Benefits of Raw Food
- by Priscilla Soligo
I have to thank my son for introducing me to raw foods. While still just an infant, I began to consider how I would raise him and, equally important, how I would feed him. For the first time in my life I really began to ask where my food was coming from.
The more I read, the more the world I knew began to crumble around me. For my young son and for my family, I knew things had to change.

Written by althea on June 13, 2011 – -
It’s Father’s Week here at Raw Mom!
Daniel Aaron, founder of Radiantly Alive, answers the question, “Can I feed my child raw food?”
“Yes! Absolutely. Yes!”
In this adorable video, Daniel shows what a raw dad (and yogi) feeds his 4-year-old daughter Zaida. She loves smoothies, chocolate, fruit, and even durian!
Daniel has eaten a raw food diet for over 10 years. This video is a glimspe of his wisdom.
Enjoy!

Togetherness in the Kitchen
Written by admin on December 2, 2009 – -by Mary Delasantos
Last night my husband Dan and I prepared separate meals together. We do this often. Dan’s meals usually take longer to prepare than mine; so I usually work as his assistant, too. Basically, I get things and put things away for him while he stands in one area and chops and cooks. Helping him get his meal done faster means we also get to eat together; although there are times when I get home from work with a can’t-wait-another-minute appetite. In those cases, I throw my meal together and sit at the kitchen counter and watch Dan make his dinner while I eat.
Eating separate diets, like we do, does not mean eating alone or cooking in isolation. Cooking together gives us time for uninterrupted chatting, which we both enjoy. We both also like to use our creative energy in kitchen. Although he is “in the kitchen” more than I am as he gets the side of the counter closest to the stove and I get the side closer to the dehydrator and food processor. Neither of us feels we are carrying the cooking and cleaning burden because we are doing everything together. Both of us, coincidentally, are equal distance from the dishwasher. ;-}

Yesterday we both had Italian food for dinner. Mine was raw kelp noodles with a raw tomato sauce, olives, pine nuts and shredded carrots topped with fresh basil and oregano from our Aerogarden. Dan had traditional fettuccini alfredo with meat, fresh basil and oregano.
As we ate our separate meals together, we both ooh’d and ah’d over how delicious they were.
-Pure enjoyment, from start to finish.
Happy Eating!
Mary

The Original Diet!
Written by admin on June 20, 2008 – -
In the comment section of my Girls’ Day Out post, I wrote this reply to Monique:
“…Talking about Bible verses, one of my favorites is Genesis 1 verses 29 and 30 about God’s love in creating our food…..
“God said, ‘See I have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.
‘And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food…’” ~ NRSV Children’s Bibile
These verses resonate so deeply with me and clearly remind me of the original diet for humans. I often tell my son that if he ever gets confused by what we should be eating, refer to Genesis. Genesis does mean “the beginning.”
Today, I was flipping through Your Right to be Beautiful by Tonya Zavasta, and came across her “Nature Always Right, Cooks Never” chapter in which she says:
“Many Christians praise themselves for abstaining from sins and sensuous pleasures such as drinking, smoking and gambling while indulging in perverse eating as the only pleasure available to them. At the same time, during church meetings they address God with a long list of prayer requests for sick people. We are being irrational when we ask God to do for us what we should do for ourselves. Read a book by Rev. George Malkums, Why Christians Get Sick, and you will become convinced you do not have to be sick, and much misery among people could be eliminated simply if they return to God’s original diet. His other book, God’s Way to Ultimage Health
, is filled with inspirational testimonials of more than 300 people who recovered from different degenerative diseases or simply improved their overall health by following God’s design for our food consumption.”
During this past week or so, I’ve been steadily reminded of God’s original diet. Writings to support this, such as Tonya’s words above, have been popping up everywhere.
In the latest newsletter I received via e-mail from EatSprouts.com, Val wrote:
“…I love the rawfood world where it’s win-win for everyone! I don’t know of any other world where every single living being WINS.
“The more you REACH FOR RAW, the more you discover you’re doing the work you always wanted, beyond your dreams. You don’t need a vision board.
“You need to focus on a Green Smoothie daily, and all of Ann Wigmore’s teachings. Then the divine harmony gently carries you into a dream world, a world where there is so much love and joy every day.
“A higher power knows where you belong, even more than you do! God does not need a vision board. Please eat food from the hand of God. This is where your bliss lies.”
Need I say more?
In Bliss!
Love,
Penny
