Making Healthy Choices Easy on the Road
Making Healthy Choices Easy on the Road
- by Caroline Cain
A couple of months ago my boyfriend and a group of colleagues went off to Cologne, Germany, to represent their company at an international trade fair for a week. Here’s how Dominic kept up his healthy eating habits whilst staying in a hotel:
I knew that it was going to be hectic and – though business-wise perfectly organized – that the catering would most likely not be on the priority list. I was not wrong: our daily lunch ‘ration’ consisted of a packaged salad with heavily processed ham and cheese and a good old German pretzel (‘old’ – dry and rock solid). I had a pretzel as I used to love them back in the days (alas, refined flour and other foods just don’t taste as they used to now that I eat a 100% organic, fresh and whole foods diet), but the salad put me off before even touching it. Luckily I came prepared!

- by Erin Stamm
If you’ve just begun experimenting with adding raw foods into your diet, or you are considering making a full lifestyle change to adopt a full-time raw food diet, all the changes you are about to make may seem a bit overwhelming.
If you previously followed a SAD deit (aka Standard American Diet) before, not only will the types of raw foods you eat be very different, but the methods of preparing them will be, too. You may be thinking you have to toss your microwave and stove and replace them with high-tech blenders and other gadgets.
Thankfully, incorporating raw foods into your diet need not be complicated or time consuming, and you don’t have to outfit your kitchen with a lot of expensive new equipment. A few basic items should be all you need to get started on your new raw food journey.
Here’s what you’ll need:

1) Glass mason jars keep it fresh and healthy!
My storage tool of choice is a glass mason jar. It’s perfect for smoothies, raw soups, raw pate, desserts (mousse, cookies, etc), salad dressings, and more. Using glass is the way to go if you want the healthiest option for both your family and our earth. And, they’re pretty cheap, too!
Want to kick it up a notch in freshness?
