Helpful Online Resources For Homeschooling Moms

by | 1 comment

It looks like my full time homeschooling days will be coming to an end as Mika and Sebastian will be heading into public school in the fall.

EEEK! Gasp! Mooooan!

Oh the torturous decisions of a mother. While I believe that homeschooling is ideal in an ideal scene, this single, self-employed mama has recognized her limits. I think I’ve done a good job until now, but I would like to have time for a yoga class, an afternoon nap and some time to fold laundry like I mean it, once in a while…

color co-ordinate my sock drawer…

sit in the sun to read a trashy fashion mag…

…sleep!??!

Perhaps I’ll find a bit more balance in my life. If I were not divorced, I’m sure it would be different. But the truth is that managing a business, a home and homeschooling as a single mother means someone is getting the short end of the stick, and I really don’t want that to be Mika and Seb.

I actually think my kids have learned enough of the basics that they’ll do well out there. I’ve taught them to fiercely insist on clarification. Whenever there is something they have not fully understood (a word, a symbol, an idea) they have been taught they have the write to insist on clarification by asking for help to understand.

I feel like I’m sending my little light warriors out into the world.

They’re pretty responsible personally and, well, who knows what will happen, but I trust the process and hope it will be a pleasant and positive one for them. I mean, I went to regular school, and I turned out okay. Didn’t I??!

The kids are on vacation this week, and I can’t help thinking about them a bit more than usual without having their little hugs and kisses around me throughout the day.

This is just a short post, because… well, I’ve spent more hours in front of this computer than I care to mention today. When I started this post, I was going to show you a whole bunch of great online resources I found for children, but I just decided…

“Naaah!”

I know this is totally ridiculous, absolutely meaningless, and potentially somewhat annoying, but it has made my children and I laugh so many times that I just HAD to share it with you. Since they’re gone on vacation, what can I say? I kinda miss them.

I have to admit, it’s soooo much better in this language, whatever it is!!!

We can’t figure out what language it is, but Sebastian has it memorized. Every kid I’ve ever shown has just gone into a complete and total state of grinning bliss on this ridiculous video!!

I loooove it!

Wiggly, giggly loves and hugs to you,

Tera

p.s.

If you haven’t checked out the latest Divablog entry, you might want to do that. I did spend a lot of time writing that today, which is another reason these light hearted giggles are just what this mama ordered!!

Here’s todays’ Divablog post!!
