Overcoming Late Night Eating Habits

How To Overcome Late Night Eating HabitsLet’s Talk About Late Night Eating

- by Tera Warner

Here’s a comment that came in via the journals:

Last night after our call, even though I felt SO inspired, I ate too much, too late. I was genuinely hungry but it was way too late for the BIG salad and sourdough bread toast (yes, toast!) I had . I went to bed on a full stomach and now my energy levels are way down today. I’m not bloated but I have bad wind and I feel kind of out of sync. Any tips for next time?

It’s funny, because at about 3:00 am, I found myself nibbling on the only non-vegetable item in my house–my kids’ organic corn flake cereal, so I could totally relate to this. While eating late has always been a bit of a problem for me, I have at different times felt very much in control of this and I want to let you know what I’ve successfully used. (It’s a bit complicated so please pay attention!)

“Do Not Make Eye Contact With the Cookies!” Thoughts from a Detoxer on Day 1

Written by admin on March 21, 2011 – -

- by Stacey Terry

cookie craving detox

Today is our first official day of transition for the Spring 21-Day Green Smoothie Detox.  Many of us are emptying our fridges and cupboards of the foods we’re trying to reduce and putting our attention on adding more fruits and greens!

One of our methods for making such changes is to build a community of support where we know we’re not alone in our efforts. Many of you leave encouraging comments on our blog, and today, Casandra reached out with her thoughts on our recent Get Empowered! article.

She has some great advice and experience for many of you who are making changes. We know you’ll relate to her words.  Be sure to reach back and share your thoughts with her as we start our 28 day green adventure!

Changing my eating habits and challenging the slippage has been a long journey. I’m 44 now, youthful but 40 pounds overweight and was tired all the time. I kept saying, “It’s because I’m overweight. I need to lose weight.” It was really more about pouring sugar in my gas tank…and sometimes with no gas at all going in. Several things have helped over time. Read more »

How One Chronic Candy Lover Achieved Personal Success with the 21-Day Green Smoothie Detox!

Written by admin on March 16, 2011 – -

- by Melissa Lake

melissa-lake-21-day-detoxHello Green Smoothie Queen(s)!

I have been wanting to write this out every since I did the 21 Day Green Smoothie Detox in January.  I finally decided to make time to write this out today.

My mom asked me to do the 21 Day Detox between Christmas and New Year’s.  I told her I would give it some thought.  My mom and I stumbled upon Robyn Openshaw‘s book when she purchased a Blendtec at Costco (in the US).

About a year before that, I tried the 3 Day Challenge. The 3 Day was my first introduction to green smoothies.  That got me started on them.

I wasn’t really consistent but had them for breakfast from time to time.  I incorporated 1 quart of green smoothies into my diet and my family’s diet (well, a pint for the kids) after reading Robyn’s book.  At some point, I stopped drinking the smoothies, but I had started a garden.  So, in December when my mom brought up the 21 Day Detox, I decided to just go for it.

I cannot tell you how much the 21 Day Detox changed my life.  Now, I will guess that my story isn’t going to sound like a typical success story to you, but for ME it has been a success.  Read more »

If you’ve got a regular cravings for sugar, chances are that you’re not getting enough calories in your daily diet.

Q: What’s one of the best ways to ensure you’re getting enough calories in your diet?

A: By eating more fruit!

Eat apricots to stop sugar cravings

Apples, bananas, pears, raspberries, blueberries; you name it!  If you’re getting enough of these delicious, fresh, organic, sun ripened foods, there’s no reason you should be suffering from sugar cravings.

Blasting Through Walls: Techniques on Becoming A Health Hero

Written by admin on February 8, 2011 – -

by Carol Jensen

break through food cravingsThe human body cannot penetrate a brick wall. It’s a law of physics, and even little kids understand it. So anytime I see a solid obstacle in front of me, I change my course to avoid the pain that will inevitably result otherwise. (Once, I inadvertently ran into a Red Rider wagon while trying to catch a fly ball. My shin will bear the marks of that collision ’til I am dead and buried.)

So the idea of entering another dimension where our laws of physics DON”T apply is intriguing! Think Harry Potter and his first train ride to Hogwarts. Could it be possible that there is an unseen level of existence where dashing through walls is possible, desirable and without destructive effects? Read more »

How I Stopped Overeating and Handled My Late Night Food Cravings

Written by Tera on January 15, 2011 – -

I can’t believe it.

I’m having one of those major “A-ha!” moments in my life and I have to share it with you.

I look back at my life and I truly cannot count the number of times I felt more like my food controlled me, than that I controlled my food choices.

Overeating, eating late at night, pigging out one night, then “fasting” on water the next morning.

Sheeeesh!

Some days I wondered if I would ever break free from the constant obsession about food and the struggle to just find balance and eat the things I *know* are good for me in the amounts that I know are good for me.

Until now. :-)

Julie's before picture

This time last year I felt terrible. I’d been coughing continuously for six months and I’d had the flu for the umpteenth time. With no one else to blame, I blamed swine flu, which was, at the time a big worry on the African continent.

My first exposure to the world of Raw foods -

It was during this time that I received an invite from my friend Shereen to attend a raw food “bring and share.” Read more »
