Believe in Green Blendtec Ripple Maker Winner: Ada Ketchie
Written by admin on September 28, 2010 – -- by Stacey Terry

Well my green smoothie go-getters, I hope you’ll agree that our BiG Believe in Green Blendtec Ripple-Maker winner was definitely worth the wait! In celebration of International Green Smoothie Day in August, we raised over $10 000 for The Lower East Side Girls Club with the help of passionate green smoothie and green environmental enthusiasts like the lovely Ada whom I’d like to introduce you to today!
Not having a glorious green machine like a Blendtec herself, Ada borrowed a blender in order to spread the green smoothie ripples. Over the course of her many demonstrations, she managed to serve green smoothies to nearly 100 people, not to mention the other hundreds of people she either e-mailed or showed off her green smoothies to. That kind of passion, that kind of belief in a better world just can’t be measured!
Ada will never have to borrow another blender. She’s soon going to have THE ultimate green smoothie ripple-making machine… a gorgeous Blendtec blender!
I hope you’ll delight in reading Ada’s story and seeing all the green enthusiasm she put into her project. Be sure to send her a comment below to keep that green enthusiasm shining and reaching out!
And now, on to Ada’s letter…

Well things are finally starting to roll along! So, I’m back to share another fabulous Green Smoothie Ripple-Maker story with you!
And if you only knew the lengths taken to share the videos in this post…!!
hehe… it took A LOT of effort and computer time from Carla and her sweetie, Mark, but they managed to chunk and then send in videos of Carla’s green smoothie presentation in honour of Believe in Green!
These videos are just ONE of the presentations that Carla gave and took video for! I’m going to save some of the videos for a future post, but Carla’s Ripple-Making skills are as green and go-getter as they come!

BiG Green Smoothie Ripple Makers: Mandeep Lota

Before we get to the good stuff… I LIVED!!!
hehe… sorry to be so dramatic, but I’ve been a weeeeee bit anxious the last week or so about a knee surgery that finally took place on Monday. I had to repair a tear in my knee after an exuberant dancing incident last Halloween. Thankfully all is well, and I didn’t even mope when the nurse told me I would NOT be getting the green smoothie I requested on my intake form.
That’s okay… I’d made one the morning of the surgery, wrapped it up with a freezer pack and had it waiting in the car with my ride for when they released me in the afternoon. And, after a night of fasting and a day of stress, I have to tell you THAT green smoothie was just about the best tasting one ever!
While I won’t be doing any jigging again just yet, I AM able at long last to get back here to the keyboard to bring you a new ripple maker story from BiG. Read more »

BiG Green Smoothie Ripple Makers: Andrea Sinclair
Written by admin on September 17, 2010 – -- by Stacey Terry
During our Believe in Green event, we challenged our participants to go out and make a difference in their own communities and spread the word about green smoothies to the most number of people! The entire purpose of The Green Smoothie Queen is to spread the ripples of health… to change lives and health one green smoothie at a time. And the only way that happens is for people to find out about our beloved lawnmower pulp and then try the gorgeous green gloop for themselves.
With the co-operation of the incredible folks at Blendtec, we have a spanky and spinachy new Blendtec blender to give away to the person who touched the most lives through holding a green smoothie event of their own!
I was just floored by the entries that came in. I should have had someone there with a camera to take the photo of my face when I’d open up the entry e-mails and see what our participants had done! I tell ya… it makes my heart expand and burst with optimism and joy when I see others reaching out and spreading the sunshine around.
We had four official entries into our BiG Blendtec Green Smoothie Ripple-Maker contest! Read more »

BiG 2010 Green Smoothie Recipe Contest – Our Winner!
Written by admin on September 9, 2010 – -- by Stacey Terry

Continuing on from yesterday’s announcement of our green smoothie smiles winner, I’m going to jump ahead to the recipe contest and serve you up with some free yummy nutritious green smoothie recipe entries!
In honour of Believe in Green, for this contest we asked for recipes that were a little different. We invited our green smoothie enthusiasts to make the most local and seasonal green smoothie they could depending on where they lived.
We wanted our recipes to be green in more than just the nutritious way. By using ingredients that were local, this pollution-busting lawnmower pulp would also have a smaller carbon footprint with saved transportation and storage energy.
I kicked things off with the photo you see above, and here’s what I made:

BiG 2010 Green Smoothie Smiles Contest – Our Winner!
Written by admin on September 8, 2010 – -- by Stacey Terry

Personal pledges! Amazing contributions! Inspiring speeches! Tears and testimonials! AND… a BiG BiG BiG objective ACHIEVED!
If you participated in the Believe in Green 2010 Challenge then THANK YOU for helping us create an event that touched soooo many! And with a little extra effort and a few extra days, we made it to our goal! And in the end, we raised $10 200.00 for The Lower East Side Girls Club! We’re just waiting to hear back from the Girls Club director to find and co-ordinate a time when Tera can make the drive from Montreal to New York and present the cheque in person! Our delightful Diva is in a flurry of activity right now as she is preparing both for the exciting Raw Mom Cooked Dad event *and* WISH (Women’s International Health Summit). But we all agree that presenting the donation in person would be soooo fantastic! If we can make that happen, we’ll be sure to take lots of photos to share!
And after all the excitement of wrapping up BiG, being away for a bluegrass campout where I had THE TIME OF MY LIFE (stick around for a couple weeks and maybe there’ll be something juicy to tell you about…
) and getting the 21-day Green Smoothie Detox going (the long weekend was so hectic I still haven’t had time to close the sign-ups, so feel free to take advantage of my busy schedule and join us now for the transition week), I’m *finally* getting back to the blog at last to share our BiG Winners over the next few days!
So let’s start today with the first contest: Our Green Smoothie Smiles!

Every few minutes I feel more excitement building and see good things happening. When I returned to Diva-land on Monday, I was thrilled when Tera announced that we met our BiG objective of raising $10 000 for the Lower East Side Girls Club! Today will be the final day that we’ll be collecting last minute donations, but Tera has generously decided to make all the BiG calls available until next year’s International Green Smoothie Day.

BiG Stories – Going Green Waaaay Up North
Written by admin on August 27, 2010 – -
The stories and comments we’ve had coming in for our BiG Believe in Green challenge are enough to make you jump for choy. Bobbi sent in a story that we’ll be entering into our BiG story contest, and we thought we’d share it with you now. We’re still working towards and getting ever closer to our $10 000 goal for The Girls’ Club, but we haven’t quite got there yet. If you sign up today you can still get in on all the calls, downloads, recipes, and the chance to win a $400 Blendtec blender!
One of the rewarding results is that many are realizing how possible, how doable it is to make changes and a difference. Not even location is an excuse as you’ll find out from Bobbi who lives almost 800 km and 10 hours north of the city of Winnipeg where I live in the province of Manitoba (hehe… and even with all that distance, we STILL figured out we know at least one person in common… like Tera says, “we really are all connected!”). But I’ll let Bobbi tell you about how *she* is finding ways to go green up north and what amazing changes green smoothies have made!
Dear Tera,
My name is Bobbi and I live in Northern Manitoba on a beautiful lake, one hour from Thompson. I have a husband and three children – Ian (7), Aaron (4), and Rya (2). I am a school teacher and I will be teaching music this coming year. I’ve been off since the end of June with them and I have about 2 and 1/2 weeks left, till school starts. I’ve really enjoyed this BiG Green Smoothie challenge. Read more »

BiG: Inspired by Hill to Climb a Mountain
Written by admin on August 25, 2010 – -by Stacey Terry

Where do I start today?
I suppose by putting down the soggy tissue I’m holding and adding it to the pile of other soggy tissues that seem to have accumulated since listening to Tera’s BiG call with Julia Butterfly Hill, our BiG speaker who dedicated two years of her life to protecting the Redwoods she loves.
Does it happen to you?
Do you ever get inspired so much that you commit to doing something you’re not sure you can do? Something so BiG, you may need help? Read more »
