90-Day Communication CleanseHow to Make Peace & Achieve Understanding When Opinions, Personalities and Moods Clash

- by Tera Warner

In honor of upcoming Mother’s Day, Father’s Day around the corner and the start of our 90-Day Communication Cleanse, I’m delighted to present this interview with a dear friend and my family counselor. He’s an amazing person and WITHOUT DOUBT my mentor in communication. I learn SO much from him.

This call is a fabulous conversation about how we can learn to understand and appreciate one another in spite of, or actually because of, our differences. I invited him to come and speak to our community during our  “Raw Mom Cooked Dad” series of interviews. If you struggle butting heads with someone you care about, get frustrated with people you can’t relate to, or would simply like to improve and upgrade your own communication habits, you will absolutely LOVE this interview with Darrel.

Enough About What You Eat! Here Are Two Simple Practices to Address What’s Eating YOU!

Enough About What You Eat!
Here Are Two Simple Practices to Address What’s Eating YOU!

- by Heather

Around here we can spend a lot of time talking about what we eat and how our food affects our general health and well-being. In today’s article, Heather discusses why sometimes the problem has nothing to do with what you’re eating, but what’s eating you!

In my previous posts, I mentioned my poor digestive state and my road to recovery.  One of the major learning lessons in my journey was that I could make all the changes to my diet that I wanted, but I also had to assess if there were any deeper issues.

Digestive issues can arise when we’re stuffing down emotions (that’s right, it’s not just what food we’re stuffing down).  When I met with the Ayurvedic nutritionist, she started asking me questions about everything digestion related.  What the meal practices were, the relationships to food I had, my past experiences, and the relationship I had with those around me.  It was really interesting for me, as certain questions would make me very emotional.  I wasn’t exactly sure why at the time.  The question now became “What’s eating me?” instead of “What am I eating?”

How Ayurveda Helped Me Heal My Joint Pain Naturally in Two Weeks

How Ayurveda Helped Me Heal My Joint Pain Naturally in 2 Weeks

- by Christy Mills

I have joint pain. As I explained in my last article, sometimes you don’t realize how much pain you are in until you are healthy.

It really started innocently enough. My husband and I were in Las Vegas for a little getaway and decided to shop. (I mean, what else is a girl to do?)  My bags started to accumulate (ok, there weren’t THAT many but they were heavy!!) and I was carrying them all on my forearms. That night at supper my elbows started to ache, and ache, and ache! The next day they felt a little better but were still really sore. By the time we got home, it was a distant memory.

That was 8 weeks ago, and when I got home that ‘ache’ started to progress into other areas of my body. I live a fairly active lifestyle, which involves going to a bootcamp style workout class 5 times per week. We do a lot of treadmill work, jumping, and weight training. The pain in my joints continued in my elbows but also moved into my knees, ankles, wrists and finger joints. I continued to think that it would go away on its own.

It didn’t.

Supplementing with Spirulina, B12, Vitamin D and Healthy OilsSupplementing with Spirulina, Chlorella, Vitamin B12, and Healthy Oils

On any given day, if you were to look next to my bed into my bookshelf/night stand you’d find at least 3 or 4 books on health, nutrition, meditation, vegetarianism, yoga, or how the body functions, all of which I’m currently in the midst of reading. I read any and everything I can get my hands on! Health and the human body fascinate me.

There are so many of us that are vitamin and mineral deficient due to the lack of eating fresh living vibrant produce. (Fruits and veggies, People! They don’t grow out of the earth in abundance for nothing!)

While I was at work a recent Friday morning it crossed my mind that maybe it would be beneficial to share with everyone what I’ve learned about vitamin supplementation. I wanted to share with you how easy it can be and why its important to add this habit to your daily life.

How to Use Wild Edible Plants and Herbs for Better Health and Cheaper Groceries

How to Use Wild Edible Plants and Herbs for Better Health and Cheaper GroceriesHow to Use Wild Edible Plants and Herbs for Better Health and Cheaper Groceries

- by Angelina Elliott

My days are often started in my my backyard foraging for goodies to use for my smoothies, juices, salads, and daily beauty masks. I look to nature for all my beauty needs, inside and out.

Last year, I had an amazing biodynamic garden and in it I grew gorgeous heirloom varieties of watermelon, cantaloupe, tomatoes, lettuces, herbs, squash, pole beans, cabbages, potatoes, corn, garlic, ginger, onions, blueberries, goji berries, radishes, parsnips, turnips, and medicinal herbs. We had the sweetest, most divine food I have ever tasted.

This year, we decided to go wild and I am so glad we did! Although I love cultivated foods, I love wild foods even more.

Wild native foods have long root systems that heal, nourish, and fortify the soil, they are stronger and hardier, completely sustainable, and the nutrients in wild plants are far superior to even the finest cultivated foods.
