I remember getting an email from my mom one day. I asked her how she was doing and she said she “sitting around getting fat and waiting for you to start the next detox.”

*giggle*

Generally our decisions to overeat, binge, and just get down-right lazy about health are triggered by events in our personal life or circumstances in immediate environment. Maybe it’s a relationship upset, the loss of someone or something significant, feeling unproductive or lacking a clear sense of purpose. No matter what the circumstances, it’s tough to separate diet and food issues from our emotional response to situations around us.

We can’t always predict when life is going to throw us a fastball, or a super high-speed fast ball, a curve ball, and a bowling ball all at once. No matter what life throws at us, we always have a choice in how we respond to what’s happening and whether we make choices to lift ourselves up, or sink ourselves further into the mud.

These are three simple things you can do instead of sitting around getting fat to help you get life feeling good and back on track:

1. Take a Walk.

Sounds simple enough, but when you’re sitting around getting fat, it might feel impossible. You don’t have to strap on jogging shoes or make an event out of this. Don’t worry about giving yourself the pressure of gym memberships or yoga commitments. Just get outside and walk! No matter what state of mind you’re in, no matter what is going on around you, taking a walk is going to help. 

2. Get The Junk Out of Your Digestive Trunk

One of the best things you can do to break that cycle of addictive food habits dragging you down is to do a gentle cleanse or detox! It doesn’t need to be overly complex or difficult.
