This Tribute To Husband And Father Might Make You Cry!

by Debbie Sanzo-Davis

Is there such a thing as soul-mates? This much I am sure of, my husband better be my soul- mate because I don’t think I have the courage to come back and do it again without him . I was so happy to have met him at a ‘young life’ Christian retreat when we were in high school back in the late seventies. No actually I was giddy about meeting him. He was  gorgeous, all 6’ 8” of him, with dark skin, green eyes, yes he was quite a hunk!

Our friendship was instantaneous and it seemed as though I had known him always. Together, we went to the movies, talked endlessly on the phone, and attended concerts. Much to my dismay our friendship would take a 10 year geographical separation, he in Alaska and me in California. Still remaining friends, and visiting when we could, he finally returned to live here in 1986. I knew then that our lives were destined to be shared. As I sit here writing this post my “soul-mate” is in the next room painting what will become my future office. He is so selfless in his life for me and our children and I honor every moment I have shared with him. There are so many ways he has honored me, our children, and our extended family. He ALWAYS has our best intentions in mind.

He lovingly supports all matters of financial endeavors, never questioning or coming from a position of lack. He leads his life with an abundant mindset and we always just seem to have enough. My attempted business ventures have been numerous and he lovingly jokes with me when I tell him that I have a new idea. He never dismisses it but becomes fully engaged in whatever I attempt to do. He doesn’t just sit on the sidelines watching but jumps in with me and becomes my partner in it.

Over the years we have started many entrepreneurial ventures. Among them we created, owned and operated a juice and coffee bar, owned a catering business, provided public cooking classes, created an airline publication, and currently we are working on our health coaching business, for which he is the personal chef. Oh did I mention he can cook too, graduating with honors from the California Culinary Academy; another one of our endeavors to help us live the life of our dreams. We have raised two awesome children, for which he has allowed me to make the calls on private vs public education regardless of the cost. It never was about the cost but what was best for each one of them.

40 wonderful years – and counting!

I have had the privilege of being a part of his life for almost 40 years and married for 26 of them. He embraced my family from the minute he met them and they became his. Always honoring the love I had for them and in turn him loving and honoring them as well. He and my dad became so close that when I asked Julian if I could give our children both of our surnames to honor my family, he not only said “absolutely” without hesitation, but he asked if he also could take my father’s name. In that moment my heart melted and he would FOREVER be stuck with me and my crazy, creative and never boring Italian Family.

Dear Julian Sanzo-Davis,
My best friend, I love you more than words can express, but I tried!
Forever Yours,

Debbi Sanzo-Davis

Happy Father’s Day, everyone!
