Where you live: Ruby Bay, New Zealand
Occupation: Director of Body Enlightenment New Zealand/ Australia and Single Mom

Alisonsbabies150x200How do you usually start your day?

I start my day with a bustling kitchen and my two babies. We’re up and into it straight away making all manner of smoothies, eggs, fermented veggies and giggles. It’s a busy time getting everyone ready for their day. I start off with a large glass of water, often with lemon and then a superfood smoothie using anything from fruit, greens, cacao, maca, chia, chaga and/or reishi powder, coconut oil, and nut or raw cows milk. Anything good for my body, goes really 🙂

What are your best tips for boosting your self-confidence when you’re feeling low?

Get outside. Take yourself for a walk in the forest or by the beach. Sweat. Do something you love. Love up someone you love. Connect with your sisters, gal pals, best friends. Call your mom. Ride a bike. Write in your journal. Listen to music that moves you. Take a luxurious bath. Eat chocolate… or salad… or BOTH! Breathe deep and connect into the incredible limitless being that you are.

Who most inspires you and why?

I am inspired by so many things. I am inspired by nature and it’s unending beauty – it’s ability to connect me into present time instantly. Nature fuels my spirit and hones my awareness. It nourishes every part of me. My children. They inspire me to be a better person, a kinder person, more patient, more gentle, more playful, more aware, more present, stronger, deeper and more able. My work. I am honoured to work with incredible women from all over the world on a daily basis.

What do you believe is most holding women back from having the health, confidence and life they really desire?

I think there can be many things that hold women back from having the health and life they want, but ultimately what’s missing is an unshakable belief in herself, her worth, her equisite beauty, and most importantly her dreams. When a woman is given the space and self-permission to feel loved, appreciated, and validated; a safe space to share her dreams and deepest desires, then she begins to come to life, to believe in herself and her own mission. THEN she will begin to automatically make healthier choices for her body, her lifestyle and her various communities.

Do you believe in your dreams? Will you share one with us that you’re currently trying to manifest in your life?

Yes I absolutely believe in my dreams 🙂 At the moment a big dream I am working on is a new space to call home. It is an adobe mud-brick house with passive solar heating, located on a few acres of land, orchards, gardens, wild edibles, fields for grazing animals and a sea view would also be wonderful.

What do you most want to share with the people who will read this article?

You are incredible. Literally, you are a limitless being with limitless potential. Believe in your ability to make your life go right. I believe in you.

What do you do to restore your batteries when you’re feeling worn out/overwhelmed?

Well, I try and sleep more 😉 A really nourishing meal is great, especially if I’ve been busy and eating on the run. I also try to just be. I may take some tea down to the beach and just sit and just be with the beauty around me. Spending time playing with my children. I also love to take time to have a glass of wine with a dear friend or chat to childhood friends on skype. Community is important to me as a single mom and I feel when I can connect in with those I love, no matter how far away they are, it always fills me up. But sleep is good too.

Is there anything about yourself you’d like to work on or improve that you don’t mind sharing with us?

I need to make more time to use my body. Exercise!

Alisonsplant100x100What’s the last book you read?

The Secret Teaching of Plants by Stephen Harrod Buhner.

What’s the last fruit you ate?

Blueberries.

I do a lot of coaching with Body Enlightenment. I coach Frank Giglio’s program Healthy Homesteaders, Daniel Vitalis’ program Be Wild, and our own Virtual Lifestyle Design Retreat. They all kick some serious butt. The tools, skills and knowledge within these courses are literally life-changing. I feel blessed to be a part of this community and I urge anyone who feels called to take any of these programs to seriously make it happen. Or email me and I’ll tell you more about them 😉 [email protected].

Why is this important to you – what drives you to do what you do?

I am passionate about self-empowerment, self-development, lifting the collective human spirit on planet earth, and nature. It is my mission. My passions/work drive everything I do, every choice I make, how I live my life. I am passionate about assisting women to ditch the diet books, chuck the cosmopolitan, quieten down the noise of life long enough to take a good look at herself, her dreams, her beauty and her inherent potential. It’s in everyone, it’s in you.

alison_ramsay150x200Alison Ramsay is a sassy, sweet-natured, collaborator and love communicator. Leading a movement of earth-shaking wellness-seekers, Alison is the Continental Director for Body Enlightenment in New Zealand and Australia.

After living with and working for an organic farmer while completing her degree, Alison became passionate about health, sustainability, and personal responsibility. She travelled to New Zealand to spend a year volunteering on organic farms and lifestyle blocks all around the country, to get her hands in the dirt and intimately experience our relationship to food and nature. Still settled in a cozy New Zealand based corner of the world, she’s sharing this message with hundreds of thousands of people. Passionate about ecology, vibrant living, fine art, deep hearts and her two beautiful babies, Alison is doing what she loves and living the life of her dreams. Her mission is to now help create that same opportunity for thousands of other earth-shaking heroines who understand that there is more to life and loving oneself than the pursuit of a size six skirt.

After spending half of her life attempting to solve the mysteries of health, wellness and the universe, after serious study, reams of reading, exploring and adoring, after fumbling her way through, gaining more than a few bumps and bruises, she discovered the power of BEing and looks forward to helping you discover it, too.

Alison would love to welcome you to the Body Enlightenment experience and the adventure of knowing yourself, and loving your life completely.  She can be contacted via email at [email protected].
