While living in Japan nearly 15 years ago now, I can recall being perplexed at the fact that every carrot had the exact same size, had no imperfections and tasted a bit like car fuel. That was my first exposure to the possibility that food was being messed with in test tubes.
There was a time when strolling through the produce section of the local grocery store felt like a healthy thing to do, but now we’ve got invisible, unmarked pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and genetically modified organisms to worry about!
