Healing From The Inside Out – Interview With Dr. Richard Moss

A wishsummit.com interview

You’ve got financial stress, a fight with your spouse, to do lists piling in every corner of your house.  The kids are yelling, the dog is sick, and you’ve still got to get groceries before six.  With all this talk of radiation you’re worried about the future, and with all this talk of cancer, you’re feeling regret  about the deep fried days of the past.  When you find yourself spinning on this hamster wheel of stress, worry, fear and regret, it’s time to stop.  Find a quiet space, without distractions or interruptions, and make a covenant with yourself to just sit down and relax.  You won’t find the answers to your worries in the latest issue of Cosmo magazine or another pill prescription.  What you’ll learn when finally stop running from yourself, is that true healing starts from the inside out.

Here are some key points from Dr. Moss’s interview:

  • Western psychology is not well adapted to helping people learn to address feeling and, in a really constructive way, understand what they do with their stories and how they create unnecessary sufferings from their thinking.
  • The real true and worst suffering is what we create with our own thinking….True suffering comes from the stories we tell ourselves.  The true suffering is mind-made.
  • I left medicine because my own life, from the inside out, went through some deep and transformative experiences.
  • Feeling is a mode of consciousness that’s really normal to all of us and important to all of us, but some feelings are very, very difficult and for us to learn to stop being afraid to feel, and to learn to be really honest with our feelings and not let feeling chase us into thoughts and judgments about ourselves and stories about what’s wrong with us or what’s wrong with others or what’s wrong with life…desperate concerns of what we have to do to save and fix ourselves…you know that we can just learn to let our feelings BE.  To breathe with them, to not fight them, to know that, like the weather, today may be cloudy, today may be stormy, tomorrow may be sunny, the weather keeps changing and so does feeling.

Richard Moss is internationally respected as a visionary thinker, teacher and author of seven books on transformation, self-healing, and the art of conscious living. More than 30 years ago, he left the practice of medicine after a life-changing realization to dedicate his life to help others realize their multidimensional nature and achieve self-mastery. His philosophy is entirely pragmatic: work on consciousness must alleviate human suffering and address the root causes of why and how we create so much conflict in ourselves and our world.

His books include: The I That is We (1981), How Shall I Live (1985), The Black Butterfly: An Invitation to Radical Aliveness (1986), The Second Miracle: Intimacy, Spirituality, and Conscious Relationships (1995), all published by Celestial Arts, Words That Shine Both Ways (self-published in 1997), The Mandala of Being: Discovering the Power of Awareness, published by New World Library, 2007. His newest book is Inside-Out Healing: Transforming Your Life Through the Power of Presence published February 2011, Hay House. His works have been translated into Spanish, French, German, Romanian, Russian, Portuguese and Danish and have sold more than 200,000 copies worldwide.

During the past 30 years Richard has taught in North America, South America, Europe and Australia. He has been interviewed in magazines and newspapers worldwide, and has presented at numerous conferences and at such institutions as Harvard University, Stanford University, University of Chicago Medical School, U.C.L.A., U.C. Berkeley, American University, Washington DC, Georgetown University, and John F. Kennedy University.

Richard’s teachings bridge science, depth psychology, energy medicine, and spiritual/awareness practices. The heart of his work is his workshops and retreats, where he invites participants into experiential processes in which they make a deep connection to themselves and learn to be their own teacher. Participants learn to experience the freedom of living without fear of their feelings.
