Kid-approved Desserts

With delicious ingredients that pack a nutritious punch, these kid-approved dessert recipes are sure to delight the entire family.

Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup medjool dates, soaked
  • ½ cup agave nectar or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or bean)
  • 1 ½ cup mashed avocado (about 3)
  • ¾ cup raw cacao powder
  • ½ cup water

Directions:

Place dates, agave nectar and vanilla if desired in a food processor and process until smooth.  Add avocado and raw cacao powder and process until creamy. Only add water a drop or two at a time if needed.

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup soaked and pitted dates, packed 3/8 cup coconut oil
  • 1 ½ cup dried coconut shredded
  • ½ cup agave nectar or maple syrup
  • ½ cup raw cacao powder
  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • 3/8 cup almonds, soaked and dehydrated

Directions:

Place dates and coconut  oil in food processor and puree until smooth.  Add coconut shreds and pulse until mixed.  Set aside.  Clean food processor.

In food processor, mix ½ cup agave, ½ cup raw cacao powder and ½ cup coconut oil until smooth and creamy.

Form date/coconut mixture into balls or press into silicone/metal candy molds or press into glass dish.  Pour chocolate mixture over top, then lightly press an almond into the top and refrigerate.
