~ by Mahan Khalsa

Sat Nam Beloveds! Spring is just around the corner and you know what that means? Time to Re-Birth! After a long internal winter, it’s time to let go of that which is no longer serving and expand into the newness that is your Soul’s calling. This letting go can be physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.  By letting go, you will create space for the new to flow into your life.

Spring Detox

detoxification, green smoothies
With the birthing of Spring and the return of the Light, it is an inspiring time to integrate more plant-based nutrition in your diet.  Eating organic, local fruits and vegetables will lighten your body and activate a natural healing process. As you detoxify your body, you will notice that old emotions rise to the surface– this is healthy, natural and normal! Take time to pay attention to what your body is telling you, keep a journal.  Walk in nature. Be gentle and compassionate with yourself! This too shall pass!

You may also notice that as you lighten your physical being and consciously choose more energy dense foods from the Earth, you feel called to cleanse your physical space! Time to clean out your closets, let go of anything that you don’t love, or things that remind you of unpleasant people, places or times gone by. Discarding unnecessary things and clearing space results in a spaciousness and efficiency that enables greater energy, improved digestion, internal detoxification and vitality!

An important part of a Re-Birthing – internally and externally – is letting go! Open up and allow this Re-Birthing of your radiance, your passions, your creativity to flow through you. Now is your Time to Shine!

Green Cleansing Recipes

Green Drink
Wild Green Pear

  • 1 pear
  • I cup local greens
  • 1 cup water or Rejuvelac

Heavy Metals Be Gone

  • 1 bunch cilantro
  • 2 cups stinging nettles
  • 1 bunch fresh parsley
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 mangoes
  • 2 cups apple juice (from your juicer)

 Wild Edibles: Nettle Tips

You’ll want to put on some decently thick gloves (dish gloves are fine) before you pick stinging nettle. If the stem snaps easily, the nettle is probably young and you could put the whole thing in your smoothie/juice. If the stem does not snap so easily, trying picking the leaves only. If you don’t have daily access, you could dehydrate them to save some for later, or store some in the fridge and pluck leaves when you need.  If you aren’t used to eating nettle, start small! Depending on your taste buds, the fruit may enhance the flavor and you may enjoy it, but if not, try different fruit to your taste! By juicing or blending the nettle, you will prevent being stung!
