Three Easy Green Smoothie Recipes to Try This Summer

by Tera Warner

Green smoothie season is definitely here!

With an abundance of fresh fruits and veggies popping up and the heat on the increase who wants to “cook”? Spring and summer are the perfect time to take a deep dive into the world of fresh food eating and see what it can really do for you!  Our next 21-Day Green Smoothie Detox will be starting up soon. If you’d like to rev your engines and warm up in preparation for this event, you can check out the recipes below. There’s also a great article about how my Dad turned his health around in under 7 days by sticking to a plant-based diet and drinking green smoothies every day.  (Recently, I spoke to my dad who told me that these days, when people ask him how he’s doing, he says, “lean and chiseled.”)

Here are some easy green smoothie recipes that have been contributed by participants on our 21-Day Green Smoothie Detox.

Wild RedWood Difference

Dandelion Greens

by Stacey Terry

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas
  • 2 Medjool dates*
(soaked in 1/4 cup water for 2 hours or more)
  • 1 cup local wild red berries, such as pin cherries
(substitute strawberries or raspberries if none available)
  • 1 – 2 handfuls wild dandelion greens
    (or farmed if you prefer)
  • 1 cup water as needed for blending

*Optional:
Include the dates if you are using red berries that are somewhat sour or if you’re not used to dandelion greens; otherwise, go for the bitter digestive advantage!

Directions:

Combine the fruit with water and blend until smooth.

Add your greens and blend again.

Dandelion greens are more bitter than most typical greens (the wild ones are least bitter in the spring and late fall).
