Ya know what? We have a lot in common. Love, health and success are on our wish lists. It’s also likely that we’ve experienced a sore throat at some point. Or we definitely know someone who has.

So, what causes the scratchiness? Point a finger at toxicity from the environment, or diet, stress, low immunity or shouting. They all create inflammation in the back of the throat, near the tonsils.

No worries. Nature provides an abundant medicine cabinet. Whether you choose an old or new healing trick, supporting the immune system is wise.

Specifically pineapple juice is spotlighted to sooth the irritation. Pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme that has anti-inflammatory properties. Plus pineapples are packed with vitamin C to boost your immune system. So when your throat starts hurting, drink some pineapple juice or eat some fresh pineapple. It helps!

Also avoid dairy and sugar. They produce mucus which will prolong healing.

Don’t underestimate Grandma’s trick of gargling salt and warm water either. Here’s a twist on it! Whip up a mixture of lemon, apple cider vinegar, cayenne, and honey to drink.natural sore throat remedy

Here’s the recipe for ya:

  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Juice of 1/4 lemon
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 cup hot water

We give thumbs up to licorice root and slippery elm bark. They contain anti-inflammatory properties. Yay! The mucilage reduces inflammation to soothe sore throats around the world. It is available in lozenge or capsule form. I also recommend Throat Comfort by Yogi Teas. It leaves a naturally sweet taste on your lips.
