Digestion is the #1 Key to Superior Health!

by Linda Kordich

Drawing on over 40 years experience in juicing, living and natural foods, in 2006 Linda Kordich helped to write and produce the “Live Foods, Live Bodies” program with her husband ‘Juice Daddy’ Jay Kordich. She now accompanies Jay around the world teaching, inspiring and motivating people to eat more living foods.  You’ll love this personal insight into how Linda came to know the incredible power of juicing as an aid to digestion.  According to Jay and Linda, effective digestion is the #1 key to obtaining superior health.

Here’s her story…

For many decades, I have had the privilege to be married to Jay Kordich, the Father of Juicing.  Yet, prior to me meeting Jay, I had come from a family of Vegetarians and big juicing advocates.  Ever since I was a child, I could hear the roar of that juicer running every afternoon after I came home from school.  I am grateful to my mother for doing this for me.  It changed my life forever, and I had no idea at the time, that juicing would play such a pivotal role in my life.  Carrot/apple/celery was always on the menu, and even at the age of 11 or so, I felt it was one of the only real things my mother did for me that made me feel special.

However, when I turned 18 years old, I fell into a horrible disease (yet unknown at the time) called Anorexia/Bulemia.  I suffered for many years, and could not understand what was coming over me.  My teeth began to rot and my digestion became a serious issue for me.

Eight years later, I met and married Jay Kordich, and that’s when the healing began.  It was the first time I actually felt appreciated, loved and that I actually mattered in somebody’s life.  Thus I began a long journey to try to re-capture my health.  Jay had told me that I needed to seriously start taking better care of my digestion, because, as he says, digestion is the #1 key to vitality, wellness and disease free living.

Thus began the long journey to regain my health.  I have learned a lot since those lonely years of my youth, and have discovered that Jay was correct in saying digestion is the key.

Why?

Because whatever we eat must be digested properly so that we can assimilate the nutrients from the foods we eat, good or bad.  We are not what we ‘EAT’….we are truly what we ‘ABSORB’.

Even if we are eating well, it’s quite possible we are not absorbing many of these important nutrients.   They could still be locked in those cells as they evacuate out of us in a bowel movement.  Unlocking those nutrients, absorbing them into our intestines is, as Jay and I both say…..#1 in determining how vitally healthy we are.

How do we achieve this?

First we need to find a way to cleanse our intestines and large colon with a good cleanse so that we can start absorbing the nutrients properly.  Even with a powerful living foods diet, our intestines can, and most likely are still covered with hard debris from previous poor eating habits, whereby the nutrients from good foods make it difficult to be absorbed into our bloodstream.  Jay says as we age, we absorb less and less of the foods we eat.  By the time we reach the age of 50, we are absorbing approximately 30% of the foods we eat, and by the time we reach 70 to 80 years old, we are only absorbing 15%.

However, I have good news!  Juicing (not blending) is the most superior way to absorb nutrients, by the mere fact that these juices are in a form that is far superior than eating or blending:  they are pre-digested.  Meaning of course, that the juices do not need to go through the digestive processes for absorption, because there is NO fiber in them.  Once there is fiber, digestion must take place.

These beautiful juices  go into our bloodstream immediately!  Our salivary gland secretions located in our mouths (called Ptyalin and Amylase) are not necessarily needed as we consume fresh vegetable or fruit juices. In pre-digested form, they go into the stomach and within just 15 to 20 minutes, become 100% assimilated into our bloodstream, depending on what kinds of juices we are consuming. Fruits digest faster than vegetables.  This is another reason why juice combining is so important.

That is why juicing is the #1 way to heal our intestines: to help heal our large colon so that, in time the integrity of these pre-digested nutrients becomes better and better as we continue to juice super greens and other important juice combinations on a daily basis.
