Raw Food Spotlight: Lemons

By Christie Fischer

Who hasn’t heard of starting the day with lemon in water? It’s something most of us have probably tried at some point, if we’re not still doing it. And the proof is in the pudding so-to-speak as to why it’s such a great practice to get into.

Lemons for Digestive Health

Enough said.

Lemons are so effective when it comes to all things digestion (and they are also great at body cleansing and detoxification), that people all over the globe start their day with a glass of the stuff. These sour little gems also help maintain good health in the body by eliminating harmful toxins that might be floating around.

Lemons are used to treat and cure many digestive problems, including nausea, constipation, heartburn, indigestion and even worms.

One other nasty that lemons are known to help with… Gallstones.

Lemons for Gallstones

For those unfamiliar with gallstones, simply put, gallstones are calcified bile. They usually surround a parasite or some form of bacteria, in an attempt to destroy the bacteria, but then become nesting places for further infection, only compounding the problem. And to top it all off, the body has a hard time removing the gallstones which are porous and can really hurt to pass.

Now for those of you familiar with gallstones, you’re gonna want to read this:

Lemon juice helps dissolve gallstones. You can’t get a more natural remedy!

Used as part of a cleansing process to rid the body of gallstones, drinking fresh lemon juice daily is a must. Try one glass first thing in the morning, everyday for at least a week as a natural remedy to get rid of them.

Lemons for Your Health

Other than consuming lemons specifically for digestion or gallstones, the little citrus-packed babies are beneficial in:

  • preventing infections
  • supplying vitamin C and antioxidants
  • boosting metabolism
  • boosting immunity
  • rejuvenating your body and improving overall fitness and stamina

As well as being antibacterial, anti-aging, anti-fatigue and containing anti-inflammatory properties.

There are probably more reasons to begin incorporating lemon into your daily routine than there are not too, so what are you waiting for? Improving digestion, preventing or getting rid of gallstones, or simply upping your diet to make it the best ever… Lemons really do pack a punch!
