A friend of mine sent me a link to Mila’s Daydreams, the brain child of Finnish mother, Adele.  I LOVED it! Our little ones are often creating such magic opportunities for artistic inspiration… it filled me with excitement to see Adele’s photos – seizing these fleeting moments and turning them into wonderful memories.

Adele kindly shared her thoughts on being a new mom with me.

What gave you the idea to make such beautiful pictures with Mila? I dabbled a bit with this with my son – but your scenes are stunning.

Like all the new parents, we took a lot of pictures when she was a newborn, even when she was sleeping most of the time. Once she fell asleep on a blanket on the floor in funny position, and looked like a little fencer. We were laughing that she might be dreaming about that. My composer husband placed his conductors baton in her hand and we took a first “daydream” picture. After that I started to get new ideas how to make little scenes  about her daydreams. I uploaded first picture in my gallery at the facebook and my family and friends love it. When I started to make few pictures per week, I decided to build a blog, so I wouldn’t flood my all facebook friends with my funny baby pictures. This is all just something creative fun in the normal family life.

How have you found motherhood, is Mila your first child?

Yes, Mila is my first child. I love being a mother, but I have to confess that I had my doubts about that. When I was younger, I wasn’t that keen to have kids. Somehow I felt if I want kids at some point of my life, adoption could be a better solution for me. But, then I met my husband and my thoughts changed. I hated being pregnant, I really didn’t “glow” or anything like that. I was feeling sick 24/7 whole 9 months. But when Mila was born I fell in love with her immediately and got so much energy that I was bursting of joy. I know that being mother is lot of other stuff too than loving your child unconditionally, but I guess that’s a good start.

I believe you work in advertising, what are your feelings about working as a mother – with Mila as your muse?

Is being a mother working? I feel it’s more like living. It feels so natural. I have heard that people say that being mother is a full time job, but hey, at least you can choose your colleagues. My husband is great and very involving father who share’s my “work load.”  Mila is our little boss and muse.  I don’t  know when I’ll go back in advertising, I have now the opportunity to stay home for 3 years and still keep my day job, so I’ll think about that later.  Mila is little only once, and I’d like to be there for her.

If there is anything you would like to share about health or mother baby connection ?

I’ve been a mother for only 3 months, so I think I don’t have that kind of ‘I-know-it-all’ knowledge yet. But the first thing I learned from my baby was that she’s very happy and calm if I do my best to understand her needs. There’s those little signs when she is hungry or sleepy or just needs to get in my lap. I also noticed that it’s easy to get better night sleep if the baby is sleeping next to your bed or in your family bed. I had my doubts about that, but it’s really a natural thing. The nursing is practically automatic, you do it with your instincts while you and baby are half-sleeping.
