Commit to Fit (Day 10) And the winner is…

Written by Tera on July 5, 2010 – -

Greeting fabulous fitness fanatics!

Okay, so maybe we’re not fanatics, but we made some noble efforts over the course of 10 days. Certainly more than we would have done without it. And while I think I only did about 6/10 days, I’m grinning eat to ear at the realisations that were made along the way and the good things that came out of it.

And that’s how it should be. We need to just look at the positive. What worked? What good things did you do? learn? discover about yourself?

Thanks to this fitness challenge I had one of the best self-pampering sessions I’ve ever had in my life. It was magical, marvelous and completely self-indulgent. I loved it.

Thanks to this fitness challenge my kids and my boyfriend tried the 90-second fitness routine!

Thanks to this fitness challenged I realized the importance of gradual steps, or small steps, or realistic targets when implementing new habits. (And even that was tough to fit in!)

The great news is that if you commented on the blog, then know that you will be getting a copy of Pete’s vook, because not a single person, not even me :-) , ended up doing all 10 days of the Commit to Fit challenge.

But we’re troopers for having tried it and firm, fit and fabulous for being here in the first place.

Love and admiration,

Tera

Wonderful that we’re getting a Vook – thank you so much for that :) But just for the record (and cos I’m so damn proud of myself!) – I did 10 straight days (24/6 – 3/7) and posted every day and I believe Helene (and Renata?) did too. Thank YOU for getting us started :)

This is just SO cool!!! I can’t wait to get the VOOK! I only did 9 days. Fabulous Isobel! Yes, thank you Tera for getting us started!! My family is going to Great Wolf Lodge this Friday for a 4 day 3 night stay and all of this work will definitely help me to carry my big boy up and down stairs to all of his favorite water slides! I will get PLENTY of exercise there too!! Oh boy, will I!! ;-) I have just loved doing this challenge!

WooHooo! Yay for us! *little dance* We will all get a Vook! How cool is that!!!Congrats to all who took the challenge! And yes, Isobel, I did 10 days too! Wow for us!
I’m actually on either day 11 or 12 now… but I suspect it might be time to do it a little less frequent now? I’ll be getting my info from the Vook then *dances again* maybe once or twice a week if you do the second program. I do feel stronger, and my partner says it shows… I dunno if that’s true but I’m mighty grateful you challenged us, Tera! Thanks so much, it’s the best I’ve done for me (and my family) all year so far!
    Love, helene

Oh! It is so great everyone will get Vook! I am sure, that everyone did they best! Yes, I did 10 days too :) I am on a day 12 today :) 4 exercises for 90 seconds each. And I definitely feel that my muscles need a little rest for a day, and then they will show progress for sure :)
I am so grateful for all of you, girls! I did it only thanks to your active participation.
Tera, I guess you didn’t find comments, because we commented your new posts, not the one about challenge, so they are all around the blog now :) )
I really love to read your posts, Tera and the your comments, ladies. This is one of the best communities on the web I think!
    Thank you all!

Wow! Thank you, Tera! This is so totally great! I love the workout and I love doing it with my kids! (PS: I have to say it’s pretty interesting how mindful this exercise can become. I noticed that when my legs were in different positions — further or closer to the wall or when I was bending more vs less that the wall-sit became easier or harder. I love this piece of the workout too — it is an exercise in mindfulness!)
Congratulations on the vook to all you ladies!
    Hugs, Diane

Hey Tera! Thanks so much for this! And Diane-very well said, I could not find the words myself, but have felt similarily about the exercises and have just incorporated a 90 sec mini-meditation at completion, I just lie flat on the floor focusing on my breathing and the way my body touches the floor, just like I learnt in Yoga, but adapted to peter-style, huh?!
Love to you all, cannot wait to watch and read my Vook! And, another thing, to start doing the exercises earlier in the day. I still have the habit to do them while I brush my teeth at night… ;-) :-D

Edit: I do the wallsit while I brush my teeth, not the plank or the others he he he :-D

    WOW Thank you Tera,
Thanks for the inspiration I have been doing it everyday and sometimes twice. I have worked up to 90seconds for the wall sit and still working on making it to 90 seconds for the plank. It really has become a habit now and its does look like my core has tightened up.
    Thanks again

You really got me going!! And I’ve even got my husband doing it! It’s been 21 days now and I can do a full 90 seconds for the wall sit but I’m still working on my plank. (I’m almost there.) Had to start slow since I’m over 60 but I’m making progress and feeling good.

Thanks for turning me on to this technique.
