Beet Greens and Baby Spinach: Recipes from the 3-Day Green Smoothie Challenge
Written by admin on July 22, 2010 – -
My name is Tanya and I read about the Green Smoothie Queen for the first time on the Raw Diva’s website.
Now I have to say I was more sucessful with the 3 day challenge than with the first challenge I with the Raw Diva 7-day detox I did. (heheh… Unfortunately I had a few slip ups my first time around, but it got things in motion!) It has been an interesting process incorporating more raw foods and yummy green smoothies into my diet.
My boys (5 and 3) are very accepting and willing to try the smoothies (even the not so tasty ones). Even my husband has also joined me on my journey, so I am very excited that this may work! Since the Raw Diva challenge three weeks ago, I have planted a garden for fresh produce and I’m making small changes daily. I know myself and if I go totally whole banana, I won’t follow through.
My goal is to incorporate 60-85% raw into my diet in the next six months. I have always been a foodie and love a challenge in the kitchen. I am actually researching dehydrators and thinking about really getting into raw food. Who knows what kind of wonderful live recipes I may create! I hope I stick to it and we’ll see what the future brings! No harm in trying to be healthy and fit for my wonderful family, right?
I have two recipes to share!
Dinner last night was a:
Banangoberry Blast!
(featured in the image above)
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe mango
- 1 cup strawberries (freshly picked on the organic farm that morning, yum!)
- 1 1/2 frozen bananas
- 2 cups baby beet greens
- 1/2 cup filtered water
Directions:
I just threw it all in the blender, hit the button and in minutes the khaki goodness was done.
My breakfast and my husband’s lunch today is a:
Kiwi Cuddle
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe banana (peeled)
- 2 kiwis
- 2 handfuls of baby spinach (about 1 1/2-2 cups?)
- 1/2 cup filtered water
Directions:
Again I just threw it all in and hit the button.
The kelly green color of this one is AMAZING and the taste is even better! Tonight it I’m going to try a savory smoothie and I’m thinking something Spanish or Mexican with cilantro and lots of goodies. We’ll see where the day takes me!
Thanks again for opening my eyes to the world of live green smoothies. I actually think this may stick!
A big strawberry squeeze from across the Atlantic!

Hi Tanya!! I live in Texas. Intrigued about your baby beet greens. I have never heard of them. Are they good? I am a complete newbie to these Green smoothies! This is only my third day!! But so far I am having one to two a day. My goal is to incorporate green smoothies into my life and hopefully turn some medical problems around. I truly enjoy them so I am loving hearing about other types of greens. Thanks for posting the recipes, they sound devine!! Blessings, Alison
