Thank you for the wheat grass info… I was wondering if you have to juice the wheatgrass, or if you could use it ‘whole’ in a smoothie, and let the blender ‘juice’ it?

Hi Utanja,
Yes – you can blend wheatgrass in a smoothie IF you have a very high-powered blender like a Blendtec or a Vita-Mix. These blenders can break it down sufficiently, whereas standard blenders won’t really be able to.
However, be warned from someone (else) who has tried it: One, depending on what else you blend it with, it may be unpleasant tasting. And two, it’s a high fiber food. If you’re not used to a lot of fiber, proceed slowly so your body can adjust to the additional fiber load.
Something else you could try is blending wheatgrass with water in a blender, and then pour the result through a nut-milk bag. That way the really fibrous part will stay behind, collected in the nut-milk bag, which you can then add to the compost.
Yet another idea is to freeze your wheatgrass shots for adding into smoothies! So if you get a lot of wheatgrass juice using the blender-water-nut-milk-bag method, you can always freeze the excess for later use! Try putting it in an icecube tray, and then add 1-2 wheatgrass juice icecubes to your smoothie.
Hope this helps!
