Beautiful Skin Food (Green Smoothie with Kale, Pineapple, Banana and Coconut water)
Written by admin on April 30, 2009 – -
Nowhere is your skin more noticeable, than on your face. I recently had a conversation with someone who has tried so many products on the market to help control the redness, sensitivity and breakouts on her face and chest. After looking over her diet and the amount of stress she had in her life, I knew she needed a big change.
I believe that food is more than what taste good, don’t get me wrong I love exploring the different flavors of food, but I believe that fruits and vegetables provide nutrients to our skin cells at a cellular level. I’m happy to say, that after drinking pure clean water, adding fruits and vegetables to her diet and getting more sleep, I have seen a noticeable difference in my clients skin and emotional state.
I remember having a conversation once with a dermatologist who didn’t see the connection between poor diet and inflammation of the skin. My first thought was that this person is a dermatologist and has gone to medical school and who am I to sit and explain how what we eat has a huge impact on our skin. Well after working with several skin care clients and noticing the visible difference in their skin after changing their diet and lifestyle, I can now say without a doubt, that foods, especially fruits and vegetables have a major impact on the health of our skin.

That does sound like a yummy smoothie. I’m hoping the local permaculture farmer will have kale. I’ve notived a HUGE improvement in my skin clarity and softness since adding green smoothies to my diet.
Blessings,

Tracy,
I just found your blog when I did a search for a juice with beet greens. I must say, I completely agree – I have been struggling with cystic acne for a few years now and have found that following an anti-candida diet (no sugar, yeast, refined, or fermented foods) has really helped my skin (aka – lots of veggies and fruit). I’ve been self healing through nutrition because all the dermatologists, endocrinologists, gynecologists, etc. say that food is not the cause. A trusted homeopathic doctor treated me for digestive problems, giving me bile salts (to aid metabolism) and acidolphilus (since i had candida). This has made the most difference – although I’m not completely back to normal, it’s such a relief to think that acne can be cleared up on my own without lots of drugs and doctor’s visits.
I’m so excited to keep up with your blog. I’m on my third day of juice fasting and am doing a colon cleanse/eating raw foods for the next couple weeks – I am looking for some more delicious recipes

Thank you so much for your response and I am thrilled that you have found what works for your skin. Thank goodness for your homeopathic doctor. And of course, you trust yourself enough to do research and find out what foods will nourish your health.
You sound so excited and I know that everything you are doing to have a healthy body will have a tremendous effect long term on your skin.
Be well,
Tracy
