Falling in love all over again!

Carrots and greens in heart shape

OK, I’ll admit it. I’ve moved away from my loving green smoothies.

  • The vibrant color;
  • the velvety smooth way it feels in my mouth;
  • the added rush of energy as my body responds.

All this was left behind for some unthinkable, unmentionable foods.

Yes, this is my confession for all to see. My guess is the winter blahs were pulling me down and left me wanting. The best part of any confession is the great feeling of freedom once the subject is off your chest.

    I wish I had found this site before I started making smoothies. Then I wouldn’t have burnt out my muscle-blender. It’s because I was making them really thick so I could eat small amounts at once. What I see on here is that I’m making them all wrong. I’m trying to put too many different things into each smoothie. I don’t see anything on the site about freezing the smoothie leftovers. Make it a very quick, easy and nutritious snack at a moments notice, when you haven’t been / can’t go shopping at that moment. Godd for eating with a spoon while on the computer.

    Hi Rob … glad you found us although it would indeed have been great to not burn out your blender. :-)

    I like to think there is no right or wrong way to make smoothies, but our contributors try to help by sharing what has worked well for them.

    While you could freeze leftovers — and we recommend it as an idea to make popsicles for kids — I have to admit I never have any left to worry about storing it! :-)

    Also, you can make it thick to eat with a spoon or add some water or juice so that you can easily drink it, even through a straw. I do both depending on my mood.

    Good luck with your smoothie making!

    I’m glad I found this blog! My husband and I recently went to Cancun and were delighted to try a spinach concoction that we found at the breakfast buffet. It included spinach, celery, oranges/orange juice and cactus! So when we got back home we eagerly wanted to make it ourselves. We have yet to make it because we are researching the best combo blenders (any suggestions?) but I’m wondering if anyone else has heard of this mixture and if so, does anyone know how to process the cactus? We should have asked before we left but I honestly thought I could find actual cactus juice but haven’t! So I assume I have to do it myself! :) Anyone know an easy way to do it? Thanks!
