(90-Day Detox) Day 42: Say It Like You Mean It! Then Let It Happen!
Written by Tera on March 30, 2009 – -Shhh… don’t tell myself I said this, but:
I am having SO, LIKE SO, SOOOOoooooo much trouble just getting through a single day of juice feasting. It’s a bit ridiculous. Anyway, maybe I don’t NEED to, but I want to. I want to do the Intestinal Soap recipe, just like Nicole is. Just like Michael Perrine talked about. I already bought all the ingredients. I started making juice, but my darn juicer gets clogged before I can make a few liters of it. Anyway, on our cozy coaching call, Nicole said she wants to do a juice feast this week. That little love nugget inspired me. She just said it and she’s doing it! I keep watching myself putting all this attention on “how hard” it is for me to do a juice feast and I keep hearing myself talk about how “I can’t do it” so I decided to klup myself up the side of the head and change my attitude. Okay, so here goes…
![]()
Gooooood morning, Pumperfly. I don’t know why I called you Pumperfly. I guess it’s because Jimbolina calls me “Miss Daisy Pumperfly”. Anyway, it’s Monday. It’s the start of a new week and on the phone at last night’s cozy coaching call, I couldn’t decide what I was going to commit to. I still haven’t decided.
We’re rapidly approaching the midway mark of our 90-day detox and it’s actually hard to believe just how much things have changed in my life since starting this thing. Wow. Let’s take inventory on our achievements, shall we?
Let’s take a moment or two to identify where change has happened in a positive way. I actually am stunned to think of how much my relationships and personal values have changed. Nutritionally speaking, I’ve made some adjustments. I sure do a lot more green juice. For fitness and exercise, I do yoga, oooooh sweet glorious yoga of looooove! So fitness, food and lifestyle have all improved A LOT. I ditched some projects and liberated myself from (I know this sounds harsh, but it was necessary) people that just weren’t contributing in a positive way to my life.
So, that’s a lot of improvement. Maybe that’s enough.
I think I’ll pack it in there. Thanks for the ride, folks.
I’m done.
I’m outta here.
That’s enough for meeeee…
*aaaahhhh….*
HA! HA! HA!
Wouldn’t that be funny? Wouldn’t it be funny if women like us could just say, “That’s enough. I’ve done my best. I’d like to stop now.”
Nice idea, but we live to grow and expand and improve. We live to experience the height of what experience has to offer. As long as we take moments to validate the progression, then I have no problem with raising the bar on what we can expect of ourselves–on what we can achieve and allow for ourselves.
Like the Dutchman, for example…
I’ve read about fairy tales with a prince who is gallant and charming and attentive. I’ve read about those things. But until last night I’d never actually BEEN WITH a real, live Prince of a prince. I mean, he showed up with flowers for a tea date!
And it’s not that I need gushing displays of chivalry, and I’m quite modest when it comes to materialistic indulgences, but I just sat there thinking, “Huh? Flowers? For me?”
And then the next thought I had was, “Uh-oh. I’m wearing jeans!”
You would have thought this guy was preparing for a very special occasion. I mean he was decked out, looking gorgeous and carrying flowers. *gulp* Maybe it’s just because I’ve never had someone consider tea with me such a treat before that I wasn’t expecting to be so graciously received. The entire night I sat listening to this person thinking, “Is this for real?” “Are YOU for real?”
Now, I’m not trying to imply anything about where this adventure will lead. I’m just saying that the whole experience got me thinking quite a lot about things…
There are ways we live and put barriers in place for ourselves. Limitations about what we think we deserve and what we’re “worthy” of. Whether it’s with respect to the relationships we are willing to create for ourselves, the money we make, the pleasure we allow ourselves to experience, the time we give to ourselves to do the things we love or the foods we say we can and cannot control eating. There are ways we put limits on pleasure and possibility. I don’t have all the answers about WHY we do it, but many of us impose limitations on ourselves.
I’ve decided it’s time to stop it with that nonsense.
It’s time to raise the bar on the amount of pleasure, passion and purpose we allow ourselves to experience.
What if I really COULD get swept away to Paris for the weekend with a man I love? What if I really could have a relationship that was easy, empowering, loving and fulfilling? (I’m not saying there couldn’t be bumps in the road, but my goodness gracious, you’d think i’d been riding on a construction site with no highway in site for the last 10 years.)
What if no matter how tough things have been until now, no matter how many stupid mistakes I’ve made, no matter how much I think I do or do not “deserve” certain things in my life… What if I just decided to knock away barriers, obstacles, limitations and self-sabotaging thoughts and stand on the mountain top of my life and shout out to the Powers of Pleasure that be to say:
“BRING IT ON!! BRING IT ALL ON!!”
Bring on as much good, as much pleasure, as much passion and abundance as you REALLY want. Let go of limitation and put possibility on your horizon like you ain’t never done before. You can. I can. We can. We will.
I told you about my apartment the other day, and how that worked out so serendipitously. Well, here’s another fun thing about this Dutchman story…
Last week after I got through the spiritual upheaval and life-change I told you about, then I just felt like “I want to get out and meet someone.” I didn’t have expectations that this be an intense relationship, or anything serious or intimate. I wasn’t looking for love, I was looking for an exhilarating conversation or a walk up the mountain with someone I found interesting. So, I popped onto one of those online dating sites. (I did it once before last year and after about 4 hours on that site I had dates lined up for weeks and more emails than I could handle. When you’re feeling like you need to extrovert a bit, well, that’s not such a bad thing.)
So the other day, just for the fun of it, I logged on to a site. (I went to this one, because it’s FREE, but I’m warning you, it’s VERY distracting!;-)) I set up a profile for myself. I put the picture of Mika and I to ward off immediately anyone cruising for something other than a respectable relationship. I just wanted to put it right out there that I am a mom of small children.
Anyway, I sat at my computer and just said outloud, “Find me a Dutchman!” My mom is Dutch and I looooove all things Dutch and I’m always google-eyed over my friend’s Dutch boyfriend. Not because he’s anything spectacular, it’s mostly just because he’s Dutch.
Anyway, it could not have been more than a few hours that passed when I received an email from a gentleman kindly asking me to remove the picture of my daughter from the site.
*gasp!*
WHAT?!!
It wasn’t a, “Hey, Baby. Nice smile!” or a “how r u tonite? i’m lonely. lol… wanna chat… lol…”
It wasn’t “I’m an honest man with a good sense of humor, would you like to go for coffee?”
It was, “I think you should take that picture of your daughter off this site, because it’s not totally appropriate and for safety reasons alone, I think it would be best if you remove it.” (Trust a Dutchman to say it like it is. I should have spotted it immediately!)
At that point, I was already inundated with more messages than I actually could manage and needed to close down my profile again because it was just too distracting and there were far too many bare-chested Brunos looking for a beer-slurpin’ patio babe. (Let’s face it. I should not be looking for dates online. I should be hanging around the compost bins at health conventions winking at the tall, skinny boys that come by.)
I wrote back to the gentleman telling him that I didn’t necessarily share his concerns, but thanked him for the suggestion and changed the picture (I mean, I don’t want to attract some weirdo!). I had noticed in his profile he would respond in English, French, German and Dutch, so I had to ask, “Are you Dutch?”
Sure shootin’, he was a Dutchman! A real, live, DUTCHMAN! Poof! Just like that! Only a matter of hours from the time I made my official request.
Looking back I can remember very clearly sitting at the computer saying outloud, “Find me a Dutchman!” and how very different from the 436 times I said, “I’m going to juice feast today”. I see a difference in the degree of intention I put into saying those two things.
If you say you’re going to do something, or you want something, but it’s laced with self-doubt of some possibility that this might not happen, it doesn’t happen. It’s not going to happen. I just wanted a Dutchman. I didn’t have a whole bunch of other qualifications about what kind of Dutchman, or how nice, or how tall or what kind of relationship it would be. I simply wanted a Dutchman. And holy smokin’ baloney did I ever get one FAST!
So, given this little observation, I’ve determined that when you just place your order for whatever the heck you want at the checkout counter of life, then do so with with a little kick of your heels and a sparkle in your eye and do it like you mean it. Then be ready to get what you ordered.
So here’s the deal, Chica:
I AM GOING TO JUICE FEAST TODAY!
And here’s WHY:
- Because I can.
- Because I want to.
- Because I think intestinal soap sounds delightful.
- Because I want to feel the intense satisfaction of doing what I say I’m going to do.
- Because I know I can, I know I can, I KNOW I CAN!
- Because fiber is overrated.
- Because I have a small cyst on the back of my leg and yesterday I noticed it through my clothes in my yoga class and it made my heart sink in my stomach. David and Katrina generously signed me up for a test drive of their juice fasting program. I admit, I was impressed with everything they offer and one thing in particular caught my attention. It was a testimonial on the side of the page from Bridgette Mars who had a cyst/lump that totally disappeared while juice feasting.
So I’m gonna do it.
And I’m officially removing a few more limitations off what I thought was possible for myself. I can’t tell you exactly what that looks like, Sunshine, but I can say that I’m not putting on any filters to keep out joy, pleasure, passion and abundance of all kinds this week. Crazy thing, this detox. Every time I think it can’t get better than this, the top pops off all over again.
I love you. I reeeeeeeally, really do and I can’t wait to hear how you’re doing and what you’re going to commit to this week.
My commitment: To accept the possibility that life could get EVEN BETTER than this, that I DO deserve all the magic I can possibly create for myself and more. Then I’m going to do whatever it takes to allow that to happen.
*taking a deeeeep breath and diving even deeper*
Tera
P.S.
I’m off to finish up a detox announcement.
So close, so close I can taste it!

What a great commitment for this week!!! I am going to yoga at least 3x this week. Last week I was 100% raw, and still doing great but I didn’t go to any yoga classes! So, three times ladies, is my commitment to myself for this week.
Have a fabulous juice feast, Tera. I know you can do it

Tera,
This week, as a commitment for myself, I am practicing saying NO.
So for the juicing test-drive; are you doing the full 92-day feasting or a shorter version? Enjoy and share [I know you will!] your adventure; perhaps another time – it will be me.

Tera,
I so much admire your goal to put yourself out there to bring on life FULL FORCE!!! That’s one of the things I want to improve about myself during this transition to a raw lifestyle (because that’s what I’m using this detox for). I find that so many times I say no to going out and doing things that put myself too “out there” and vulnerable to possibly socially awkward situations when really they could allow me to meet some awesome new people and build some fun relationships! So my goal is going to be to start saying YES! Kind of like the recent Jim Carrey movie “Yes Man”…I need to LIVE MY LIFE TO THE FULLEST and as I continue with raw I feel like I will be better able to accomplish this! Thank you so much for your upbeat, inspirational posts! Good luck with your juice fast (what’s the recipe by the way for the “intestinal soap”? I’d love to do a juice fast with you!!)
Sunshine and smiles,
Caitlin

Hey, Caitlin. Great to hear from you and YES! to your fullest expression of you! The intestinal soap is carrot, beet and green juice.
Michael talked about it in his teleseminar last week. I HIGHLY encourage you to check that out, by the way.
Loooove,
Tera

I really like the concept of being open to great possibilities. I listened to the interview with Brian, and today I began making index cards with inspiring things written on them. I got some of them from the interview. I will begin posting them on my bathroom mirror and reading them when I go in there. I guess that is my commitment for the week. Kathie

Echo, saying no is a wonderful commitment to make…so many of us need to learn how to say it more!
Tera, I’ve always said that if I could pick up and move, I’d go to Holland. I think the Dutch have such a fabulous perspective about so many things.
My commitment for this week is to appreciate all the blessings in my life. I made a gorgeous pineapple/coconut smoothie for my kids this afternoon (it’s been years since I had a fresh coconut) and we ate some beautiful Muscat grapes, and even though I had a few second thoughts about buying all those fruits from far across the globe, I decided to lighten up on my “eat local” thinking to allow a special treat. And the fruit was so beautiful to look at, and so perfectly sweet, and such a nice thing for us on this cold, rainy day that I decided just to be grateful for the abundance that’s available to us.
This afternoon I just let my kids do whatever they wanted, and they lived up to my trust by turning off the TV and playing school (my 7 year old is teaching her 4 year old sister about clouds). So I’m happy today.

Ah yes! The good old POF site. I know it well. Actually, that’s where I met my ex, and even though the relationship thing didn’t work for us, he’s still my best friend, one of Manitoba’s best fiddle players, and one HECK of a great guy! And say, his mom was Dutch and SHE was a super-duper wonderful lady whom I miss very much.
And, well, if you don’t end up flying with the Dutchman, I do hope your juice feast sends you soaring.
As for me, I’m working on manifesting myself a blender. I can’t remember whether I’ve mentioned this already (I did only sleep for about 4 hours this morning after an all-nighter with the contract), but do you remember the conversation we had during a CCC call about intentions and manifesting? You’d mentioned how you’d had an image in your mind and then found the perfect flowers and you challenged us to try doing something for ourselves. I decided I’d try to find the numbers ’333′. It took me 3 whole weeks to finally see my target, but I finally did, and I totally giggled!! Patience, patience, and more patience. I was so gung-ho when I started the BES in November I *almost* talked myself into shelling out the big bucks for a Vita-mix. But I’ve held off. I put a picture of one on my desk and I look at it, and I’m going to find a way to get one for free.
A month ago, I went into my local health food store and noticed in a little alcove by the entrance that they had a Vita-mix display. Turns out it’s for a draw. The drawbox was totally hidden behind shopping carts and I really had to investigate to even tell it was a draw. It felt like the universe setting up an opportunity. So, I’ve been going there every 2-3 days to buy my greens and every time I’ve gone I’ve been filling out entry forms. I tell ya, that blender has felt like mine from the first moment I saw it. And it’s keeping me going on the green smoothies for breakfast!
They’ll be making the draw in a week or so, so I’ll keep you posted.
Here’s to manifesting men and machines (yours sounds like more fun when I put it that way!!!!)

I love this comment, Stacey! Sooooo great! I love that you look for the little things to manifest. I remember waking up in the morning and deciding I was going to find a purple sarong. Didn’t know how or where, but I was. I ended up finding THREE that day! Just fun to keep it light and playful. I’ll be holding the vision for you, too, my dear.
Keep me posted. I’ve got blender connections, too, pumpkin!

It’s so ‘funny” about the timing of the message of learning to just say, “no”. My daughter and I were talking about this today. She decided she needed to clearly, firmly, confidently, boldly tell a certain mentor in her life that little, difficult-to-say-without-feeling-guitly word.
She decided that she would email this person, since talking to this person wasn’t received or heard. Once she wrote what she wanted to say and felt like she must say, she asked me to proofread it an give her my thoughts, comments, suggestions. It was a great opportunity.
This daughter is the one I had mentioned in the earlier days of this detos that was having seizure episodes. We’ve been on a 5 month journey to get to the root. Today, an “ah-ha” moment happened for her, when she realized that SHE has to establish boundaries for her own health, and goals and dreams. She has to do what SHE has to do for her own health and well-being
This is HUGE! I had been hoping and encouraging her in this area for a loooooong time! Today was her day and in a way, mine too!
As always Tera, I think it is so interesting that you so often blog about something that we are walking through ourselves in one way or another.
No dutchman has entered the scene, but the day’s not over yet, LOL.
My goal is a consistent, earlier bedtime and to get back to having 3 smoothies/green juice per day. I’ve slacked off on the amount since doing our kitchen updating project….
Take care,
Vanetta

I love this, Vanetta. Thanks for sharing your story. What I love about it is the reminder that we really ARE all connected. It’s easy to forget that, sometimes, the way society teaches us to fend for ourselves. But there can be no question that we’re all sorta stuck in the web of life and one person’s actions DO affect another. We’ve created a little hub of good vibrations here and it’s really quite wonderful to see in action.
Love to you and thanks for all the sharing.

I love your posts, Tera! I always get something (at least something, usually lots of somethings!) that I can apply to my own life. This idea about limiting ourselves is near and dear to me. I’m learning to let go of those limitations that keep me safe yet small. It’s exhilarating!
How incredible about the Dutchman being Dutchman after you voiced the intention. Ask and the Universe shall respond!

Tera, loved your enthusiasm and energy in this post…it just felt especially natural. Wow, about the story about the Dutchman! Very amusing! Yes, I think I too need to work on what I deserve. Sometimes I cry when I get nice things I think I don’t deserve…I have a hard time handling it. It’s something I need to work on, too.
Btw, juice feasting + enemas = magically spiritual. You can do it, Tera! Enjoy!

Hey Girl, Sounds like you’ve found your wand, dusted it off and are putting it to gooooooood use. We are all magicians you know…we can change our reality anytime we want.
! My New Year’s wish on our first CCC call of 2009 was to find romance and I know it’s just around the corner…just waiting for me to give the word…I have my wand at the ready
!
…I think I’m high on juicing…I can’t stop…ok going now…
POF is ok, I’m on it too but there is a certain je ne c’est quoi missing. Today when I was at the Orthodontist with one of the boys, I came across this one http://www.greensingles.com when I was leafing through a National Geographic Green Magazine…selection might be more appropos there. I haven’t checked it out yet but will
I made and drank the “internal soap” today, man it was sooooo yummmmeeeeee…no effects yet though, if you know what I mean…might have to drink another one tomorrow. I am totally digging this juice feasting…my energy, enthusiasm, optimism, joy, love, peace and everything else are just rockin’…llllllllllllooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvvvve it!
Oh ya, almost forgot…I had to go to 3 stores to find an EBag…the last was a medical supplies store…can you believe it…man oh man, oh ya that’s what’s on my wish list

The “intestinal soap” is interesting. When my younger sister lived with us in 2004/2005 she introduced me to beetroot/carrot/celery/green apple/ginger juice. I started having them again recently, and they are delicious! It’s extra good now that I know why it’s so good for me.
I didn’t drink my green juice today, however. I actually forgot about it.
The humidity yesterday knocked me about, so I had a bit of a blah day. I’m hoping that tomorrow will bring a cool change, and that I’ll be feeling my normal self again.

HI,
Just a comment and question, I guess: I tried the intestinal soap the day after listening to Michael’s teleseminar. It seemed to flush my kidneys, not the intestines. I had to go to the bathroom about every 20 minutes or so. Is this something it is ‘supposed’ to do? I haven’t tried that combination in juice-form since. I do make greensmoothies with these ingredients and haven’t noticed this. Just curious as to thoughts anyone may have.
Have a lovely day, all!

Hello ladies, I realized that it’s exactly 102 days before I move and it suddenly came to me that since I need to find homes for all of my things anyway, I can start now and do a combination of juice feasting and very simple salads for the rest of my time here.
My commitments this week:
1) make a list of items that need new homes and find the person who will the get the most out of it so that it the process can bring as much positivity into the world as possible
2) continue going to the gym at least 4 times a week
3) try out some juice recipes so I can have a stack ready for me whenever I’m looking for something a little more interesting.
I know I’m new to all this posting stuff but I just wanted to say that I’ve really started to enjoy it and look forward to it! Thank you for making me start Tera
Love to you all!

My goal this week is just to take time every night and remember all the things I’ve grateful for!

Hi there!
Reading all your comments is very motivational! These days have been very crazy because many working projects of my husband are in process and I’m trying to help him, that means that we have been kind of stressed and failing on eating just raw and healthy food and having at least 8 hours of sleep.
But, today is THE day, he just finished everything and all was a success! (he was launching a webinar and… oh my GOD! it’s a lot of work!) Tera, I admire you most now! putting all this things together in the ciberspace is a lot of work, but also a lot of fun! Anyway, I’m screaming to the universe: I WANT TO BE VEGAANNNNN AND RAWWWW!! and I’m working on these commitments one day at a time.
Love you!!! and all my best wishes for the juice feast and dutch man!
Kisses and green juice hugs!

I wish you all the best and pray that it will disappear, just as I hope each of our own individual scary health issues will improve or disappear. Thank you for putting it out there that you, too, deal with things we wouldn’t like talking about, but MUST talk about so that the yuckiness and fear that might be attached to dealing with it GOES AWAY TOO!!! OH YES LETS “POWER THOUGHT MANIFEST”
WE ARE THE CREATORS OF OUR LIVES THROUGH OUR THOUGHTS…and once we realize this, we can gradually create or recreate our lives and attract or manifest what we choose for ourselves. We can break the patterns of restriction and victimization to TRULY RECLAIM OUR POWER – DIVINE DIVA POWER THAT IS!!!
Once you see the direct link of what your thoughts create in your life, you realize you can never obtain results by changing external factors…You have to change your thoughts since everything starts within and your thoughts are the seeds of what you will harvest…then you can change things to your liking starting with your thoughts…
So ladies here is an exercise:
Watch your THOUGHTS they become WORDS
Watch your WORDS they become ACTIONS
Watch your ACTIONS they become HABITS
Watch your HABITS they become your CHARACTER
Watch your CHARACTER it becomes your DESTINY…
It’s spring so now is a good time to remove all the bad weeds and start sowing all your thought seeds…
HAPPY GARDENING TO ALL!!!
