stop sugar cravingsHave you ever had a craving for something sweet and fought tooth and nail not to bite into a decadent, mouth watering dessert? Well here is a green smoothie recipe made with carrots and sweet potatoes, both of which will help to reduce those cravings for sweets. carrots - sugar cravingsI personally think moderation is key to a healthy relationship with food and both the sweet potatoes, a night shade and root vegetable, and carrots, a root vegetable, will help to nourish your body. These vegetables are grounding and provide a complete balance of stabilizing energy.

Both provide the body with beta-carotene, one of the most important and abundant of the carotenes, a portion of which the liver converts to vitamin A. Beta-carotene keeps harmful LDL cholesterol from damaging the heart and coronary arteries and also boosts the immune system.

Oh now I have to get get some sweet potatoes!! I can’t keep up with all of these great recipes! :-) I have a Green Smoothie Party coming up this weekend though so I should be able to share several of the recipes there!

If anyone tries this without a juicer or a vitamix/blendec let me know how you do it — I would love to recomend it to many of my friends just starting out, but am just not sure how to handle the carrot juice. I may have to experiment a bit too. :-)

Tami this may be more labor intensive, but what about using a veggie peeler that way the carrots will be shaved really thin and then they could be placed in an every day blender and that should do the job.

Sometimes if someone doesn’t have a juicer, they can blend the ingredient and then drain it and they you have juice. Just a thought!

Let me know how it turns out.

    Warmly,
    Tracy

Sweet potatoes aren’t in the nightshade family. Neither are yams (which are sometimes confused with sweet potatoes).

Apple, carrot and celery, that’s the best recipe for a sweet, delicious dessert.
