A Few Good Reasons To Keep The Salt in The Sea and Off Your Plate

by | 0 comments

saltFor the last week or so, participants of our Body Enlightenment System have been concentrating on simplifying their meals as much as possible. So much so that they have been eating a lot of “monomeals” –one fruit or food at a time when hungry until satisfied. It’s been making a huge difference in handling emotional eating, craving and overall energy.

One of the things that happens when we do this, is that you eliminate excessive dressings, sauces and fancy meals. Your subtle appreciation for flavor is re-established and you become increasingly sensitive to the needs of your body.

One of the biggest things that will interfere with your body’s ability to perceive delicate and subtle flavors is…
SALT!

As you gradually eliminate salt from your diet, you become increasingly able to recognize and appreciate the true
flavors of fresh fruits and vegetables as they are.

I have been shocked every time at how easily a raw food potluck dinner can throw me off. Eating the simpler meals as we are now, allows us a much greater range of perception from our foods. Most cooked foods are consumed with condiments, and even though a lot of people may eventually approach the raw food lifestyle, few of them will ever give up the salt, spices or condiments.

And yet, I can say that I have seen this become the single factor that ultimately has caused many people to throw in the towel on their commitment and determination to succeed with the raw food diet. Here are some of the unfriendly facts about what salt and condiments do in the body:

1. Condiments and spices damage the intestinal tract.

In the same way that they stimulate your taste buds, they stimulate the delicate mucous membranes of the mouth,
stomach and intestines. When used continually, this causes membranes to thicken and harden and eventually impairs functional power and causes inflammation.

2. The body reacts to the injection of toxins by trying to dilute them and keep the cells out of harm’s way. This, at
the end of the day can mean puffy legs, chronic swelling in the hands, legs or feet as well as puffy eyes!

The consumption of salt is a direct contributor to high blood pressure, circulatory disorders, and weight gain.

*Sodium chloride* (SALT) is an inorganic, toxic crystal that cannot be broken down for use by the body. However, both sodium and chorine as they occur in fresh, raw, ripe fruits and vegetables offer the ideal choice for the break-down and assimilation of minerals by the body.

3. Condiments and salt encourage over-eating and food addiction. When our food is loaded with these extras, we
often end up eating them simply out of a desire for further stimulation, rather than actual need or hunger.

The water-retaining properties themselves cause the body to cry out for more water in an attempt to protect the cells, but this thirst is often met with overeating instead. Many foods have a high water content and many people misinterpret thirst for hunger which causes overeating.

So, if you’re not ready for monomeals, but just looking to take the next step forward in your health adventure, consider eliminating condiments, spices and especially salt from your meals and see what that does for you.

Muah! Love and hugs,

Tera
